dothac83 Posted January 9, 2014 Share Posted January 9, 2014 Since the Great Wolf has the ability to make Wolf Guard troop choices, what are some viable options to maximize the amount of wolf guard you can field while still staying within 1500-1850 point range? how many WG per squad? how many in PA/TDA? Don't remember the exact numbers, but here's a general idea: Logan Grimnar Wolf Lord with TWM, TH/SS, wolftooth necklace, runic armour, saga of the bear (goes with TWC) Wolf Lord with TWM, TH/SS, wolftooth necklace, runic armour, saga of the warrior (goes with Fenrisian Wolves) 5x Wolf Guard with TDA and 5x combi-plasma in pod 5x Wolf Guard with TDA and 5x combi-melta in pod 8x Wolf Guard in PA and 8x combi-plasma and 8x combi-melta in pod (with Grimnar) 10x or so Fenrisian Wolves 5x TWC with couple storm shields Tactics: have Grimnar come down with another 5man squad, depending on whether you need to melta or plasma. Have Grimnar do Preferred Enemy for maximum alpha strike while the Wolves sprint up-field. An alternative tactic would be Loganwing with Logan and loads of WG TDA in LR or footslogging. Not as viable anymore but pretty fun nonetheless. I regulary play with logan Grimnar, and 3x 5 Wolfguard in TDA and 3 landraiders (2x crusader and 1 landraider), or I play with logan grimnar and 1x4 and 4x5 TDA in droppods. DanPesci Posted January 10, 2014 Share Posted January 10, 2014 aye for me, our terminators work best armed with as many combi-weapons as possible, and then just powerswords/axes. Because of that, they are short ranged, so footslogging isnt hugely great, which leaves landraiders and drop pods. For me the split between PA and TDA is a tough choice. the guys in power armour fill more boots, but get very pricy very quickly when you want to add any sort of close combat clout (power weapons etc), however the terminators get a power weapon included with their TDA, which is very nice. Mixing them in squads can have useful results, but im never really sure which works best..and it usually just comes down to points, and what im trying to fit them in Saying that, I love the sound of the wolf guard PA pack immerstum had, with twin combi-weapons, what id probably do for this edition though is have them so the all have plasma, then for their second combi, take half with combi-flamer, and half with combi melta. Makes them an awesome 'take on anything' unit when they land.
