scalz88
I havent dusted off my marines to play since about 2009/2010... I like to use lots of assault marines with jump packs, drop pods, dreadnaughts, and terminators among the several new marine list options to chose from now, which list provides the biggest close combat punch? I started with black templars back in 3rd if that gives you an idea... im not looking for which chapter has the "best" rules or anything like that. Just which is gonna give me the most CC flavor. Been playing EVE in the meantime, its nice to see so many 40k fans in that game. thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285498-getting-back-into-it/ Share on other sites
AceofCase
Are you looking at Codex: Space Marines in particular? Blood Angels might be exactly what you're looking for. VoteForPedro
I like to use lots of assault marines with jump packs, drop pods, dreadnaughts, and terminators Unfortunately you unwittingly appear have stumbled across an almost complete list of things that people generally perceive to be 'uncompetitive' in the new book, Drop Pods excepted. How much that matters to you is of course your call! I second AceofCase in that Blood Angels might be worth a look, they have scoring Assault Marines allowing you to base your army around them, Feel No Pain Terminators and Furioso Dreadnoughts. They do of course have issues all of their own, cost and issues getting into combat foremost amongst them. Personally I were to run Assault Marines I would be looking at a horde army, take 30 of them, lots of Tactical Marines, possibly in Rhinos, and use your numbers to push midfield. White Scars and Raven Guard Chapter Tactics will let your Rhino's Scout move getting you some valuable distance, the Assault Marines would jump along behind them and when given the opportunity charge. Dreadnought wise an Ironclad would suit this list best, drop it down and use it to soak some fire that would otherwise be pointed at your advancing marine horde. Stick it in a Drop Pod, don't expect it to survive long but it should be a good distraction. Can't see much use for Terminators in this list unfortunately, Tactical Terminators don't really kick out enough damage and Assault Terminators need a Land Raider really. Azash
You could also check the Templar forums. The current Templar chapter traits allow you to run black tide horde style lists. If you want to stick with c:SM you could always run fists with kantor the 12" +1 attack bubble never hurt any cc army. You also may want to look into assault centurions...some folks swear by them.
