Zeuspro
So I got a Mars Warhound Titan for christmas from the Wife. Ive been reading tutorials online on how it goes together as I really cant afford to ruin this, but i was wondering if people on here had any tips or suggestions from when they buit their own.what would you have done different? What worked well? how did you d Also ive been thinin about basing, ive seen online people stick a CD to each foot, dont rally want to do that. Would a Flyer base big enough? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Navy/AIRCRAFT-FLYING-BASE.html or a large oval base? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat470008a&prodId=prod1570012 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285504-building-a-titan/ Share on other sites
twopounder
Honestly? I would keep it in the box and never build it. Why? Well... I've painted hundreds of guard and marines and I still can't do it as well as I'd like. You have one titan, not hundreds. The chances that you'll be satisfied with your results? Small. The chances that you received all the resin parts without defect? small. The chances that it won't get chipped or broken if you try to transport it to a game? small. Not to be a downer, but you have something that is worth quite a lot of money as-is, but worth a lot less when constructed. If you have an area to display prominent models, I would put the whole box with parts there like a trophy. Just a suggestion though. S.k.i.t.t.l.e
Ichiban painting on YouTube have a couple of vids on prepping and starting to build a Reaver Titan if thats any help to you. I almost agree with the comments above though, unless you are super happy with your painting techniques and have done some larger items (I'm busy with a Rhino right now and I never thought painting something just a little larger than my usual troops would be soooo different) so you are comfortable with getting smooth coats over larger areas, I'd keep it in the box for now... But thats just me, I'm always afraid of failure. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285504-building-a-titan/#findComment-3567078 Share on other sites
crazyterran
I believe in you! And many people use pre-cut round wooden ovals from places like Home Depot, I believe. You can probably google/youtube it. Enjoy having an Imperial Titan for escalation! (via the Forge World FAQ!) IamJacksUserName
It is a great model, but posing can be a pain. Make sure it is balanced with the weight over the feet. I know a couple of people who made an awesome looking war hound, but posed it so that it doesn't balance and has a habit of nose diving while in play. Especially on uneven terrain. Clean everything before you assemble. It is very hard to clean once assembled and paint won't stick if it still has the release agent from the molds. I am sure there are plenty of people here who have built a war hound. You can always post questions here if something comes up along the way. Good luck and congratulations on the new Titan.
