Are there any... powergamers among us?

You can build a balanced list at 2,000. Will it be as fun as a 3,500 point list? Nope. For HH, more is better. You can play a 5,000 point game without even touching Lords of War or Apocalypse, that's the great thing about it. And your points build up VERY fast.

Bring on the hordeLegions!

The only possible power heresy gamer I saw could be the guy massaen faced on youtube it's his EC against death Gaurd.

And half of the stuff you take, you take for fun anyway

Ironically he is about as far from power gamer as can be... It was more to do with trying out how bad it could be that game...

Haha I stand corrected then. But the 2 10 man squads of missiles just seemed cheesy as hell.

Bad dice rolls will be bad dice rolls, but I still want you to kick his death Gaurd butt ;)

It does make you all wonder how the 30k game will change when non power armor lists are fully fleshed out.  The Imperial Army in particular, as just about any current Guard army is an appropriate selection of models, unlike the AdMech players who are still chomping at the bit for more models to use.

I have a feeling that the Imperial Army Lists will allow them to be extremely armor heavy and allow them to field Malcadors and Macharius tanks without LoW title. That will be their thing. Also I expect some really amazing commanders to come along with them. Also there is the possibility for massive squads of guardsmen. Maybe so large that movement trays be allowed! lol!

Hehe my friends claim my NL army is over powered and I am a power gamer. Not sure why, I played a Sicarian, a contemptor, a heavy Volkite squad, a plasma support squad, MoS commander, and two 20 man tac squads. Not exacly OP in my opinion, especially as I kept forgetting the NL legion rules when I got into combat. I think his main issue was my plasma squad destroying his dreadknight in one volley.

lol, yeah for some reason the mentality is that if it can kill something that is broken and OP, it must obviously be more broken and more OP. Forgetting the fact that when take something remotely balanced(think of it like a hammer) and slam it into something not balanced(think giant block of ice), the balanced usually breaks the unbalanced.

If every list/unit was OP, we would have a balanced game.

What I like with the HH books in particular is the strong choices available across the FOC and within each slot. Nearly every choice in every legion list is useful and appealing - even the humble Tactical squad, thanks to their boost in firepower (maybe the units of the EC got a bit of the short end of the stick though :/ ) It is good when it is hard to choose between units when putting an army together, or there is fierce competition in your list's unit slots. It shows that every unit has a practical function and use, and balanced rules.

And of course, this in addition to the thematic coolness of all the units FW has produced.

Personally I like the idea of more movement via crusade, it is not that reliable and coupled to the challenge requirement but I think that it is pretty usefull on huge marine blobs and sometimes that extra d3 can be worth gold.

I wouldn't have said no to fleet though.

Forge world has worked hard to make a hard counter to each unit. That's what makes it appealing. Sprinkled in are units with lots of character, add in legion tactics that have genuine strengths and weaknesses and the game has depth because of the simplicity.
