VensersRevenge
Hello. I want to start a Horus Heresy army, and seeing as I love the Ultramarines, I am going with them as my main force. However, seeing as it is going to be a while until they come out, I want to start a small ally force to go with them. I would prefer the allie's to be traitors (although don't let that stop you if you have any good loyalist suggestions), and i will not play the Word Bearers or the Emperor's Children without a lot of convincing. Thanks in Advance, Venser Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285675-ultramarine-allies/ Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
To be Traitirs eh? Hmm. Well, you could go with the Iron Warriors since there is already Dantioch joining the XIII. Vazy is doing an interesting concept of having some VIII Legion influenced Ultramarines, so maybe you could that. But fir some reason, the idea of Ultramarines and Death Guard seems to resonate quite well. Pyromancer
Do Iron Warriors. We need more of the IV on these forums! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285675-ultramarine-allies/#findComment-3570374 Share on other sites

Hyaenidae
Alpha Legion. Because it would be amusing, and creating a story behind such polar opposites fighting in the same compliance campaign would be awesome. Conn Eremon
Do the Luna Wolves. They apparently worked well together, with the Ultramarines' support accounting for a good portion of the Luna Wolves' rather considerable reputation. You would be fielding one heck of a force. You could say that these two Legions had the most profound impact on humanity than any other Legion, before or since. The Emperor's Warmaster alongside the Lord Commander of the Imperium. Wade Garrett
An allied Ultramarine/Night Lords force opens up a lot of possibilties from a fluff standpoint. Those who rule by gaining the love and loyalty of their subjects and those who care little if their slaves hate them, so long as they fear. The embodiments of the ideals of the Great Crusade, the promises of the wondrous future for a unified humanity, and the walking avatars of the reality of the Emperor's war, of worlds burning and innocents dying to forge a new order. A combined XIII and VIII would be the velvet glove and iron fist, the carrot and the stick, good cop and bad cop to the planets they encountered. And considering that Prince of Crows says the Ultras took their red helm of censure from the sinner's red of the Night Lords, there's even a fluff justification for elements of those Legions being in close contact with one another. VensersRevenge
Thanks for all the ideas guys. Right now I am thinking Luna Wolves (I figure they will adopt their old name like Loken's did) because I already like their backstory, but Night Lords and Iron Warriors are definite possibilities as well. Russ Brother 92
From what Wade's said the Ultra/NL alliance would be awesome - plus it allows your Ultras to focus on larger, heavy weapons based engagements whilst your NLs stab the foes in the back via supply lines, their 'innocents' and assassinating the command echelons... You can also focus on the Great Crusade era for the fluff rather than the Heresy itself, when the Luna Wolves were not yet the Sons of Horus.
