Horus' Armour

Ok so this is just a very silly simple rant but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

I know its nitpicking and desperately childish but I have to be honest that it really grinds my gears when I see artwork of pre heresy Horus with white Terminator armour with his mace. I mean its on the Primarch cover for Throne's sake...

In Horus Rising and False Gods, we see Horus is supposedly with more or less form fitting Golden armour (much like most of his brothers) and carries a burning sword much like the Emperor's (the name of it eludes me). None of his iconic gear is obtained until after his awakening on Davin, particularly his new terminator armour and Talon which was a gift from the hereteks on Mars as a sign of their loyalty.

Just wanted to know what you guys thought and see if anyone else felt a little peevish about it.

Fluff Nazi out.

In False Gods Horus was described as wearing sea-green armor when he went to Davin IIRC. I'll look i up to be sure.

Could be right. I also recall his armour being described as simply golden in his first appearance of Horus Rising. My assumption was that it was something of a mix between Angron's and Fulgrims by measure of color, lots of gold but atleast some surface showing the Legion colors.

False Gods, Page 30

Behind them came a living god, his armour gleaming gold and ocean green, with a cloak of regal purple framing him perfectly.

So he did have some gold, but some ocean green as well.

In Horus Rising, Page 43

The god was a true giant, as large again to any Astartes warrior as an Astartes was to a normal man. His armour was white gold, like the sunlight at dawn, the work of master artificers.

So it is gold again, but it is white gold.

A picture for color reference since the description can be misleading:

It could be suggested that the transition from Horus' pre-Heresy armour to his post-Heresy Terminator armour is symbolic of his personal transition from personification of the Emperor's will pre-Heresy to brutal warlord post-Heresy.

The aesthetic preferences of the armour change as the personality and motivations of the warrior wearing it changes. It reflects Horus' internal changes.

In the early days though he preferred his leopard skin armour which he wore with his big floppy hat and his cane. He always had his mournival with him - they were the ones with the bright red lipstick and high heels.

This is why we need Great Crusade books, Black Library.
