Riedler
So I have decided to make a bike squad but I am not sure how to arm it. I know attack bikes are better but I like the regular bike models, and they are probably going to get better with the new codex. These are my thoughts. 1 Include one attack bike with multi melta 2. Include two special weapons, probably two melta guns, but not sure 3. Five - seven bikers in total, not sure here 4. What should I arm the sergant with? I am thinking power sword or power fist in case the squad gets tangled up in close combat. I will taylor the rest of the army to cope with targets this squad is ineffective at coping with. What are your thoughts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285749-arming-bike-squad/ Share on other sites
Xenith
A single attack bikes is better than one in a squad. 3 bikes, 2 plasma or two melta, attack bike, multi melta. I'd initially go with more bodies over the powerfist. What do you want the squad to do? Bartali
I'd go Plasmaguns and Multi-Melta Attack Bike. Bikes give you fast relentless platform to shoot those guns. Flamers and Meltaguns are probably better carried on ASM. Morticon
Relentless, as noted, is a great benefit. Use it. Plasma + MM attack bike! Solid unit. That being said, i much prefer the 3 attack bike, 2MM/1HB (or even 3MM) at 30(/20) points cheaper AND with more attacks AND with more wounds. You can shuffle wounds too through placement, and keep them alive longer. Attack bikers are just better efficiency and value for money methinks! Jolemai
I have dreams (really, how many of us don't dream about Blood Angels?) about the following set up: Librarian ~ Force Axe ~ Space Marine Bike ~ Divination and ???? Sanguinary Priest ~ Power Axe ~ Space Marine Bike Bike Squadron ~ Bikes (8) ~~ Melta Gun (2) ~~ Combi-melta or Power Lance ~~ Melta Bombs ~ Attack Bike ~~ Multi Melta This way I can combat squad them to give a variety of configurations and it also gives me a lot of melta to play with. I do, however, understand that Plasma may well be the better option and it allows dual purpose. This thread over in Tactica is a very interesting read. Xenith
^^ I want to run the same, but with 3x MM attack bikes instead. 3 prescience-d MM would be fun. Tack on T5, 2W, 3+ Sv, Jink and FnP and you have a tough unit. BloodTzar
This can be done much better as you allie a SM, 4 command SQ grav gun bikers, with apothecary all tanekd by the Chaptbikester with 2+/3++ EW FNP. Altough if you do IH you dont even need apoth, and get 5th grav :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285749-arming-bike-squad/#findComment-3575924 Share on other sites
