Word bearer icon change?

I have a word bearers question surrounding the change of the legions icon...

 

1. We know the gal vorbak were amongst the first to change their armor over to the dark crimson they also were amongst the first to have chaotic icons etc...

 

However when the rest of the legion changed their colors (I.E. Calth) did the icon turn onto the classic demon skull/book? I see the gal vorbak using these but what about the rest of legion....I want to do a transitional army that I could use in 30k as well as 40k....
