Breacher Siege Marines weapons load out

Hey guys,

Looking to pick some brains as a outfit my breachers, my sergeant specifically.

He's going to have a melee weapon, and I'm trying to decide what would make the most sense for these guys. Rule of cool puts a thunder hammer on him, but I would think in tight spaces he may not have enough room to swing it. A gladius fits better with the close quarters, shields packed together, only have room to move a little bit environment. I feel like you could get away with a power fist as well. Lastly, the idea of a spear interests me, as there are simply not enough of them in the far future.

What do you guys think?

My Breacher sergeant has done wonders for me, he has a power fist and a breaching charge, and with that hes so far killed a filthy traitor contemptor, four people from a command squad, an apothecary, and some destroyers, while power-fisting others the occasional time..

Oh...and 3 of his fellow breachers...but their flesh was weak...he survived the blast himself!

From a practical perspective I'm not convinced the power fist is a great choice if paired with a boarding shield, since it's such a bulky weapon you would have to move the shield out of the way to have a swing, which would leave you open.

I think Max Power has the right idea with a gladius, it's small enough that you could probably have a swing without dropping or moving the shield too much, and of course it works well in tight spaces.

But then again, 40k has never been about practical fighting techniques has it?

Don't swing. Jab, grab, crush.
