Well as most of you may of seen or know I've been a son of dorn for a while now (nearly 3 years)

I've hit a kind of big wall in my painting so I decided to paint another model...or a few....and I decided to try my hand at another low strength chapter that hates xenos.....who knew lol

So with out further ado here is a sterngaurd sgt I've been working on

@death spectre I do plan too fella.

@ brothercaptainarkhan: no problem

@ Aquilanus: thanks fella, and yes they are cork spheres, if you're in the UK they're from wilkinsons, if you're not I think they're just wine bottle things lol

I'll have to nip into the local one before work tomorrow and see if I can find some smile.png

@recon0321: thank you fella...it's all about the undercoat..

@The YAK: thanks also fella...yes there will be more

@cornelias: cheers mate, and I haven't really seen scythes done for ages tbh, but I tried one 2 years ago...massively failed didn't try again...until now lol

Now in terms of how much I'm doing ill be doing a 5 man squad first....then building upon that....I'm going to try and do 5 of these for every 10 of my crimsons fists...as painting this guy has actually helped me get back in to my fists now too.

Very good to see some more Scythes!

Subscribing to this :)

Thank you very much, it'll be a slow one but ill try my hardest

Damn, looking awesome man!

I think i might even like these more than your fists.

WHAT? Lol thank you fella...I've been hoarding all fluff I can in these guys too

Is your yellow done with GW paint I have always like the scythes story....maybe I should challenge myself more and jump in the deep end of the pool!

It is yes, but the last batch of paints that GW had, tau sept, lyanden darksun, bubonic brown and golden yellow.

Couldn't help but notice that your Scythe of the Emperor has two bionic legs.

That's some pretty hardcore narrative forging right there, imagining this guy on the ground with both his legs torn off but still in the fight.

Or did he lose one first, then the other? Going into battle with a bionic leg, then losing your other good leg must have caused no shortage of cursing, as well as the teasing from his squadmates.

SOTHANS!!!! Very cool man please keep us posted on the progress! its too infrequently that I see some Glorious Sothan Brothers.

Thank you fella, hopefully ill be putting some more of his unit together this weekend?

Great job on the first mini! I am looking forward to seeing more.

Glad you like him too

How about....he was thrown in the air, diced about, both legs gone.....as he fell back towards the ground but on top of the carnifex, embedded his axe in its back....blew the back of its head out with a full mag of a bolter?

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks a lot guys.

Haven't really done anything with this side project or my main one but I'm sitting down now to put together 4 more scythes, my question to you fellows is this, I'm thinking of obviously putting in a lot of bionics on these guys, using a few IH parts from GW and some more from other 3rd party companies....I was going to add in the fluff that the IH's ran into the scythes and helped with the injured by helping what's left fashion more bionics for the marines who have lost limbs etc....would this fit with a chapter from the ultras (receiving help) and would it fit the IH way of thinking?

I think leaving them distant and isolated from Astartes support is part of what makes their story so appealing, so personally I'd be inclined to leave the Iron Hands out.Space Marine chapters are very independent, and politically influential. If the Scythes want a lot of bionics – and given that they need every possible marine – then there's no need to involve other Chapters unless you want them to.

Even if you do involve others, the Scythes would doubtless be able to call in ancient favours, dusty old promises and alliances in order to get all the manufacturing power they need from nearby worlds; to say nothing of their own forges.
