Vazzy
Man, my Imperial Fists are getting MK VI, whether they had it or not. I finally can paint that 25th anniversary model I got all those years ago. The Traitor Legions would have most likely started out with Mk IV armor(unless personal preference) as they were being funneled all the goodies while the Loyalist Legions would have basically been all the over the place. Don the Oiler
I think mkVI isn't that much of a problem, single suits could always be awarded as some sort of artificer armour to distinguished Marines. I'm struggling with Marines already wearing mkV at the beginning of the heresy. Angron: "Well, here's your ̶k̶̶i̶̶t̶̶b̶̶a̶̶s̶̶h̶̶e̶̶d̶̶ ̶̶p̶̶i̶̶e̶̶c̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶f̶̶ ̶̶j̶̶u̶̶n̶̶k̶ brand new suit of Heresy pattern power armour!" Skraal: "Ooooh nice. But why is it called Heresy pattern?" Angron: "Errrr... well...uhm... look at all those fun little studs it has!" Now the "heresy" name could have come later (like with the Corvus mark), in fact i think the practice of repairing existing suits with sub-par spare parts and molecular bonding studs is probably as old as the Great Crusade on prolonged campaigns with sparse support, but i was under the impression that it only became its own mark by the time the Heresy started when it became forseeable that support would become a galaxy-wide problem. infyrana
Catching as a named armour of "MkV Heresy" is a post heresy thing surely ? We know that during the Heresy they had to make alterations, modifications, repairs etc, ad-hoc by techmarines in the field with what could be salvaged after so many disasters and constant heavy warring against like-armoured space marines. Therefore we today, in 40k, call it Heresy armour due to why/whey it was made, so back then it would have just been... "Yeah, I've had to make some mods to my old damaged armour <MKII / III / IV / VI>, techmarines are calling this riveting bad-boy MkV - but I'd rather call it MkVugly" ...
