Grey Knight list. Thoughts?

Here is a list I have been working with just curious of others thoughts? I tend to be a bit more of a solid GK player, and am coming back into 40k after missing all of 5th ed. So a lot of the book is drastically different from the Daemon hunters 'dex.

I am not a big fan of Inquisitors, and think Coteaz is garbage. So if everyone could refrain from suggesting them it would save a lot of time.

What i meant is that fluff wise not a huge fan, and also the fact he is an inquisitor makes me not a huge fan of his. In game wise he has a lot of upside, except for the fact he can be instant killed so easily and without an invulnerable save.

275+Lord Kaldor Draigo

200+ Grandmaster Mordrak

500 points just in HQ...sheeeeet. Well I can't deny that Mordrak delivers Draigo like nothing else can, but still...

225+ X5 Ghost Knights, Brotherhood Banner-25, X2 Daemon Hammers

Yet more non-scoring. You do need them though, Draigo will attract a lot of hate (shrug)

435+ Paladins X4, X1 Apothecary, X1,Incinerator-5,  Psycannon-20(MC-5), Psybolt Ammo-20, Brotherhood Banner-25, X2 Daemon Hammers (MC-10)

Don't mix weapons. Given they're BS4 and you have Relentless, the psycannon is probably a better option. I personally think PaladinWing has had its day but try it out all the same. It did carry us though 5th edition. I just think Riptides, Doomsday Arks, etc make Paladins a bit of a risky venture.

160+ Strike Squad X4 Grey Knights X1 Justicar (MC Halberd), Incinerator-20, X4 Halberds-20, Psybolt Ammo-20,

Nice

260+ Nemesis Dreadknight, Heavy Incinerator-30, Nemesis Greatsword-25, Personal teleporter-75

Excellent choice, exactly how I run mine. He's a beast

The apothecary upgrade for Paladin is next to useless.  Especially if you're not taking a 10 man Squad, and/or using it to deliver some ICs.

Drop the Greatsword form the NDK, unless you have nothing else to spend the points on.

Drop the Psybolt ammo.  It's a wast if not used on full Squads.

Why do you have an Incinerator on your Strike Squad?  And drop the Halberds from the Strikes.  a 5 point CC upgrade on a mini with 1A and a Power Weapon already, isn't worth it.

Edit: How about something like;

HQ: Draigo (275)

HQ: Mordrak (200)

HQ: Ghost Knight: (40)

Troop: Paladin x10, Psycannon x4, Apothecary, Banner (730)

Troop: Strike x10, Psycannon x2 (220)

Heavy: NDK, H Incinerator, PT (235)

Total: 1,700

Leaving you 300 points.

This is my kind of list.

For a start no Coteaz - whilst his merits on the gaming table are not in dispute the term 'auto-include' makes me want to pull my hair out.

Secondly no Dreadnaughts - hooray! I read somewhere once that Grey Knights find the idea of not being buried on Titan with their fallen brothers a fate worse than death. So I have always winced at the amount of Dreadnaughts I see.

My advice would be to put all your Paladin eggs in one basket that's saves you an Apothecary and Psybolt Ammo. At this point I would then consider dropping the ghosties and the strike squad and getting as many core Termies as you have points left. People very much clench up when you drop a billion Termies on the board

Yeah I have to agree here. On the full Deathstar he's good, but on a combat squad its a big expense.

Do not listen to this man ;) drop the heavy incinerator if you wanna save points. Greatsword is powerfist price for re-rolling everything in melee. There is literally no other weapon in 40k which does that it does. On a S10 AP2 Jump MC no less.

Drop the Psybolt ammo.  It's a wast if not used on full Squads.

Huh, didn't see that on the first pass. Good catch

Incinerator is fine, on a combat squad the psycannon almost never fires in Heavy mode anyway. I agree with losing the melee upgrades though, Strikes just don't work in melee.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true. Coteaz is the One True HQ

What, all of two in Heavy Support? Kek. It just says they don't like it, much as normal Marines don't enjoy it either (read any story involving Dreads, they mostly describe it as an ordeal not an honour. Bjorn gets really irritated every time they wake him up). Doesn't mean we don't have several Brother-Ancients. I'd imagine, just like with normal Marine Chapters, there are about 1-3 per Brotherhood. Not really that many, when you consider the 1000 or so able-bodied Knights that make up the Chapter.

20. You're putting at best 20 on the board. Which doesn't at all phase Tau or Eldar, or Necrons either really. They're slow, they can be tarpitted with numbers, or brought down by AP2. I advocate Terminators in Knight lists, but spamming them is a bad idea. They need a fair bit of support to do their job. Deathwing they aint.

Don't roll a 1 with your S10 fist? tongue.png

My dice are cursed and blessed in equal measure. I roll 1-2's to hit and wound like you would not believe (on everything, in every fight, ALL DAY THE PAIN TRAIN), but I roll HIT on scatter with disturbing frequency. It's like the voices want me to give in and just field a plasma servitor army.

I roll 5-6's on normal Terminators Invulerable saves all the time.

I also roll 1's on their armour saves just as much!

>_<

I think my dice come from the same daemonic forge as yours. I'm notorious for passing invul after invul, but failing 3 out of 4 2+ saves.
