raiders13
I’m looking at starting a 30k army and can’t decide between thesetwo armies. I like the tactics of both armies, but which one do you think wouldbe better with drop pods. infyrana
Do you like the models or fluff though ? Or the types of rules that each army has ? I personally would like to build a WE army, but after my personal opinions (very negative) on both the Rampager and Terminator models for WE, I refuse to. I like where the HH books took Loken and the background, but I just didn't have any love for Abaddon or his Termi's. But those Reaver models and command squad, they would have swayed me into a dual path with DG if only they were the WE models ! Maybe I should make a converted WE contingent just to model some Reavers and paint them as WE ?! *darn it my wallet will hate me* Otherwise - read the Rites rules for Orbital Assault and cross reference it to the units in both armies to find out if the rules fit for you. Check the other rites too, there may be a rule that suits your desire but only works with one legion. Conn Eremon
Drop pods are pretty fluffy for the World Eaters, it being the most rapid insertion into combat available beyond teleportation. I'd say go for the Warmaster's own, though. That sea-green looks great with gold. Stormborn
I don't really see the Sons of horus as a drop pod army but world eaters or War Hounds might work quite well. Personally I'm waiting for the Space Wolves to show up in 30K. Whilst slowly stockpiling the more generic 30K parts. TemujinZero
The Sons of Horus get a bonus to reserves and a unique drop pod. Right now they're THE drop pod legion. Reyner
The Sons of Horus were known for sudden shock assaults and finishing wars before their enemy knew they were in a war. Drop pod assaults fit that very nicely! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285858-sons-of-horus-or-world-eaters/#findComment-3575016 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
I would go for WEs personally, whilst atm SoH have better rules to support it they're more of an all round legion, with specialists in most areas, whereas for an 'in your face' aggression legion it's got to be WEs, even the SWs and WSs weren't as aggressive - not to say there weren't tactical minds within the legion, they just lost it the same as everyone else when the nails kicked in... And what's not to love above mental terminators who are too crazy for the WEs and are kept in perpetual slumber until their rage and bloodlust is unleashes on something/someone... raiders13
I'm looking for the "all out assault" that you can get with drop pods and i think that World Eaters will fit the bill nicely. I need to get book two and see if it has rules for the red butchers in it. Russ Brother 92
Aye we're talking T5, WS5 walking tank monstrosities... They DO have downsides, 1 major and a coupla minor but they can wreck face, even other terminators... Knight of the Raven
War Hounds. I second this. As much as I love World Eaters, there are many of them here and War Hounds would be a first. Grotsmasha
I say, why choose? If you love them both, take both. I couldn't decide between Wolves and the DA, so I didn't. I split them into shooty and skull bashy and painted them accordingly. Guest Azrael275
I have played about 20 games with my World Eaters and I love them. They absolutely fit the drop pod assault mold.
