Brotherhood of the Storm takes place before Scars. Unremembered Empire is literally "the current event" as being the most recent thing to happen. Right behind it would be Prince of crows which is in Shadows of Treachery. That's all I can remember of the top of my head.

EDIT: This list is supposed to be a time line sort of thing, right?

Ya I figured, or at least it seemed, that the order of publishing did not necc coincide with the order of events in the HH story line. Like some short stories published later actually covered events that happened very early in the HH. For instance I THINK Promethean Sun describes events that earlier in the series. Or I thought maybe Fallen Angels Could actually be read right after Decent of Angels, or reading Prospero Burns right after Thousand Suns might make more sense as far as continuity of the overall HH timeline.

Honestly I can't remember if other events are mentioned in those books though that would then be mixed up if you did so.

SO ya, this list was more about the order of events in the books/Audio/shorts, and apart from actual release/publishing dates.

That Google Doc is great though, there is stuff on there I totally missed, and is also missing from GW's own site.

Yeah, as I understand it, Promethean Sun is meant to lay some backstory for Vulkan Lives, which takes place in the first year after Istvaan V. Personally, I'd throw it in there at the same time as Deliverance Lost and Angel Exterminatus, both of which take place in the first year, near as I can tell.

And Prospero Burns can be read before or after Thousand Sons. They take place about the same time and were published back to back with ATS first and PB second IIRC.

Fallen Angels can immediately follow Descent of Angels, but they take place something like decades apart. Due to recent "fluff reconciliations"(read as retcons to organize the timeline) I think Descent of Angels ended up becoming the earliest happening book, if it wasn't before.

That Google document is fantastic, but it is only the publication order. Someone actually did try making an actual time line. Its linked somewhere around here so I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Here it is. Get ready to see just how convoluted history really is. ;)

Saved me the trouble of linking that myself msn-wink.gif

Basically, I'm trying to divide the HH into 'story lines' via placement on that drawing. I'd suggest reading one story line at a time, advancing somewhat chronologically, if you haven't read anything so far.

Suggested story line order (with major books):

-Horus's fall (first 4 books plus other SoH related short stories)

-Isstvan V related story lines (Fulgrim, First Heretic, Deliverance Lost, Angel Exterminatus, Vulkan Lives and all the related short stories)
-Prospero story line (A Thousand Sons, Prospero Burns, Legion, Scars - the later two are quite disconnected though)
-Sol system / Malcador the Sigillite story line (Mechanicum, Outcast Dead, Nemesis and all Garro stories i.e. the gray ellipses all around the drawing...)
-Thramas Crusade (Descent of Angels, Fallen Angels and 4 medium length DA/NL stories as per the drawing)
-Ultramar story line (Fear to Tread, Battle for the Abyss, Know no Fear, Betrayer, Mark of Calth, Unremembered Empire)

Also, I should probably update the drawing since I've already corrected some errors on it.

EDIT: Here you go, an updated version:
