XIX-7BN-13th Co Wraiths Ravenguard: MEDIC!

Mors Vincit

Recommended Posts

Really nice Raven Guard, I love the look and the background, I may have to copy that style if I decide to add some XIX survivors to my Tenth,

Feel free to add Members of the 13th. If you want to know paint scheme I can drop that to ya.

Looking epic, love what you're doing with the bases!

The bases are actually easier than they look. I absolutely refused to do bases prior to this recent adventure. I can tell you how I did mine if you want.

I love what you're doing Mors Vincit! The dark grey colour scheme is a great idea and the legionaries are modelled in a really dynamic way.

I also wouldn't mind hearing how you do the bases.

Keep up the great work :)

Those shoulder pads, where are they from? Its looks like the company chamion pad made sweet, sweet baby love to a Mk III pad...

They are anvil industry. I really like them too.
Annnnnnnd added to the mile long shopping list. Seriously, those pads look great.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite heresy era armies. Awesome posing, great kitbashes and I love the colour scheme. If I could afford to start a 30k army I'd probably choose nomad-predation fleet Raven Guard, and your army just makes it more and more tempting. Are you planning on including the RG special characters/units from Extermination?

Keep up the great work! thumbsup.gif

Bases:

Very simple

bag of woodland (brand); Coarse Cinder like $4

1 jar of Tree House Studios; sand light brown from Hobby lobby $2.49 for 1.5 lbs

PVA Glue

Water

whatever color you want for your base. I use an old D&D ral patha paint brown

Cork board. You can get it anywhere. I bought the four 12 inch squares from wal-mart on clearance.

1: Break up Cork into iregular patterns

2: Glue cork onto base using super glue (You can put two pieces kind of separated.)

3: Mix sand and coarse cinder in whatever you amount you like. More rocky looking put more coarse in.

4: Mix PVA glue with equal party water (mix it well)

5: Put your sand mixture into the PVA/water mix. It should be almost paste oatmeal consistency.

6: Apply the sand/rock/pva/water mix directly to base

7: Prime it black

8: Paint it, but make sure you water the paint down a lot. This will allow black to show through where rocks are deeper under the surface. Use less water towards top make paint thicker. Remember actual troops are in thier environment so neat pretty Soldiers with shiney boots dont exist. I paint my bases with guys on it so splashes get on it.

*****This needs to be painted with cruddy brush and a paint that you can ruin. Some sand will get on brush. Not much but I won't use that paint for anything but bases.

I would love to take full credit for the PVA water mix but I can't. I saw a guy use it on a Dark angels astroid display. I dont remember him mixing anything into his besides sand. It works really well. I tried to to find it but couldn't.

I mix in rock and skulls and helmets. Just glue them in place prior to sand paste put down.

Moar compliments! They are all very dynamic, something that I find not so easy to achieve.

Also I really like that you prefer a more "bare" look, more like soldiers in action and not on parade ;)

P.s.

What's that blue stuff ?

Thanks man. The blue stuff is just blue tac. i use it to test fit my guys together.

Ya it bugs me to think of Soldiers going to war in parade uniforms. When your in the fight u bring what you need not all the xtra crap. Xtra weight slows u down.

Bright colors make u a target.

I guess I ve done this stuff too long not to think that way.

You know its a little embarrasing but i make the poses myself that i make the marines do. I feel like a kid sometimes.

the one i like is the marine ducking and running forward with the T visor. I also like the running with bolter at high ready.

If u dont like the way legs are cut the damn things and repose them.

I am not sure how many other people feel this way but can we get a right knee on the ground pose for kneeling legs. It might match all the right handed bolter and hvy wpn carrying marine arms u make dummy....

When u fire a heavy wpn or even your rifle your shooting side leg is back for support. For real u desk ridin sculptors go fire a weapon to understand what u are designing.

Without going into further details (because could be dangerous in a dedicated forum) I guess that power armors shift extra stress on needed limbs to make up for recoil and/or weight.

This comes I suppose from the connection to the nerves of the Astartes. So yes, I did so myself but without making it an all-time priority.

P.s.

About you impersonating the poses, yes it could look funny but seems to work so it's smart.

I got sick of building troops. So I built this.

I dont like the original ramp, so I made a new one.

I love this tactical sergeant, and I see (with much bitterness) that your grenades on his 'belly' armor actually look good. tongue.png

There is no doubt that FW parts kick reg GW in the pants. Thanks

That's awesome!!

How did you make it?

The door is made out of 2 storm raven rear doors.

I glued them together side by side. I cut the sides vertically on the left and right sides. I then cut about 1/4 inch out of the hatch horizontally (right at top of hinges and one above that.

I know 2 DOORs? I had extra parts. The Storm eagle uses a different door and so does the fire raptor (Which I need to build still)
