Painting a landraider

Brother,

Do a google search as there are many tutorials about painting. Also check out the tutorials that are part of this great site.

I have seen some who build part of the landraider and paint the interior floor and walls etc first. Then they glue the 2 halves together and put upper armor on

and do the exterior. If you intend to glue the front exit ramp you do not need to paint the interior. .

When painting vehicles with a brush, the hardest part is getting a smooth even coat. It's often time consuming and will take multiple thinned coats.

An airbrush makes things a whole lot easier when painting vehicles (and Power Armour come to that). You can pick up a cheap chinese airbrush and compressor for £70-80 on ebay

With my tanks, I never actually glued the top piece on, even after fully painting them. This also allows the interior to be viewed more than just peeking in through the ramp. For the rest, It is of course easiest to paint the floor, side walls, and the wall that separates the rear cargo/troop hold from the cockpit before gluing the two halves together. For the two halves, it doesn't really matter as they don't have any interior that will be visible (minus the inner wall that has the seats for troops). For painting method, I don't own an airbrush, I left some recessed portions of the walls black from the primer, the rest I just drybrushed silver on it. It gives it a bit more of a gritty look, rather than a smooth coat of solid silver. On the floor and ramp it makes it easy to leave the recessed parts black and raised parts silver, without using any inks.

It of course doesn't have to be silver, that is just what I chose. If you do want it to look like an actual painted interior then an airbrush or even a spray paint of the desired color would be easiest. Using brushes on a larger, solid, smooth surface gets trickier to make look nice and smooth. You have to build up upon thinner coats to the desired color make sure it looks silky smooth.
