The Falling Star are Presumed to be a Second Founding chapter, created after the Horus Heresy in accordance with the Codex  Astartes. They suffer from a mutation in their gene-seed, Causing there vocal cords to snap, when this happens they are stricken from the active duty list .They shun most chapters preferring to fight alone.

“Your enemy should not fear what he hears but what he cannot”-Jacques Le Petite,  Alpha Prime of the Falling Stars

History

According to some historians the Falling Stars are a descendant of the Ultramarine's legion however this is widely disputed. With others claiming they are Corax’s sons, what is certain is that when asked the chapter refuses to give a straight answer but offer “Death is our Mother and Faith our Father”

No official records of the chapter’s campaigns and conquests exist as they refuse to give any. Although it has been noted that there ships seem to be largely based around the Eye of Terror however there troops have never been spotted on any systems anywhere, this has led to other chapters not trusting them or outright voicing their concerns to the Inquisition and the High Council of Terra but are always put down by both. Leaving other chapters speculating about the ties of the Falling Stars.

what do you peeps think so far

Gene seed

This information is from the personal records of Inquisitor Lady Jena Orechiel of the Ordo Xenos (who was found with a bullet based wound through the cerebral cortex):

“At first glance each Astartes appears to be identical but as the eye focuses on their armor small squad markings and rank can be discerned on the right shoulder, the longer you spend with them the more can be discerned such as the side effects of their gene seed on their body and mind. The first stage is loss of voice once this happens the marine is stricken from the active duty roster and moved to the Black company. What happens in that company I cannot say for certain, what I have seen is that each marine is then trained to master every form of weaponry and is not allowed to sleep until  he passes one at a time, he is then subject to constant attacks  everywhere that prove fatal if failed. Another stage of the mutation is that there skin begins to react to light. Gamma Philippe told me is that they are struck silent

because they have seen the moment Horus was struck down by the Emperor in there
dreams”

Loosing their vocal cords won't inhibit their ability to swing a chainsword. Not in a place where they have access to advanced MIUs, eye tracking visors and good ol' fasioned sign language. Not to mention the bionic vocal cords that techmarines seem to love. I would imagine that a space marine or two would swear a vow of silence if their battle brother dies in combat, and in order to speak they must seek revenge.

It's interesting but the Blood Angels have a dire need for a death company, not just because someone is giving them the silent treatment. If this is another take on the Black Rage and the marines precognitive abilities passed down from Sangy then I would suggest dropping the whole silent thing as it can be easily circumvented when the correct sci-fi science is applied, twice weekly.

To be honest, I don't get the concept. Other than Mystery Marines I guess. Mysterious gene seed, mysterious Founding, mysterious fleets, mysterious allegiances, mysterious organization. The good news is, I have found a http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HJxHdDFHzQU/T-di8UXJC5I/AAAAAAAAPUE/dvqOK_CTjIw/s1600/mystery-machine002.jpg]good color scheme for you.

So they hang out near the Eye of Terror, but nobody has seen their troops on any systems? Perhaps this is a wording issue. Does this mean that nobody knows if they have a homeworld, or that they are never seen in battle on planets? I'm guessing the first.

Why does that make them untrustworthy? There doesn't seem to be a causal relationship between them being fleet based and other Chapters not trusting them.

I'm getting the feeling their dark secret is being secretly Sons of Horus geneseed. If that's the case, eh.
