Serrinus
Hello folks, I've been an avid follower of anything Space Marine related since I first read the initial three books from the Horus Heresy, playing the Dawn of War games and now finally I am getting into the hobby. I have chosen Blood Angels to be my chapter (Well it's a successor) that I am working on story wise. Model wise, I own several independent characters (Captain, Librarian, Chaplain --- in power armour), two tactical squads (from Dark Vengeance), a Scout Squad, a terminator squad, one Assault Squad (it has bits from the Death Company set) thus can count as my second Death Company unit, a fully fledged death company unit with Jump Packs, one Death Company Dreadnought and one Razorback/Rhino. I am from Finland and I have attended some games at my local Games Workshop...anyway, glad to be here :) I have finished my first model painted ever, the Death Company Dreadnought (I built also the Librarian arm and Frag cannon, seemed okay that I could also use it as a Furioso). It comes with the Standard Melta+Heavy Flamer. Next acquisitions wise... Drop Pod for the Death Company Dreadnought. Not the best paintjob, I know, my hands were shaking all the time, but here it is :) SIde view, same dreadnought. I think it still needs some attention though. Librarian Arm ( Still not done). Finally other side view. I tried using a wash on the feet to emulate rust, but I still have quite a bit to learn. Anyway, i will keep this updated and more photos will come soon. Thanks, S Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286070-introduction-and-some-photos/ Share on other sites

Sanguine Eternal
Welcome to the forum and hobby! You obviously picked the right chapter my friend. Blood Angels have some amazing models at their disposal and you made a good choice with your first model to paint. Looking forward to seeing your progress with your army. I just recently painted up a DC dread as well and modeled it up with the Frag Cannon as well. They look bad ass. Serrinus
Here we go, some updates. I started working on my assault marines, poor lighting however and a late night's paint job. Sergeant and one other fellow are still WIP. Because two pistols are always better than one! The sergeant with his storm shield and power axe are in the works. i hope I get to finish the squad soon :) There we go, I will keep this updated! Sanguine Eternal
Looking good so far. If you really want your marines to pop, try giving them a wash of either Nuln Oil, or Agrax Earthshade. The darker colour tones down the brightness of the red, and sinks into all the nooks and crannies, creating a shadow effect. jay170788
Not sure if you're sticking to codex but before you pick out detailing on the helmets you may want to basecoat them yellow. Other than that the dread looks awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286070-introduction-and-some-photos/#findComment-3580899 Share on other sites
Serrinus
Thanks for the input, I worked a little extra on both pistoleer fellow and sergeant. There might still be some finishing touches needed but here they are :) Pistoleer Sergeant Eyes are a bit difficult for me to do right now, but I am trying. I just wish i had less shaky hands. This week's project is to finish the assault squad. Scouts and death company are next. This week's project is to finish the assault squad. Scouts and death company are next. Welcome to the hobby. Looking good for a newcomer and it looks like you had a lot of fun with that dread. Time to get to stamping out some heretics! Don't worry about not being able to handle advanced techniques and getting to all of the finishing touches - it's enough to get the right paint in the right spot of the model when it's new to you. In 6 months you'll look back at your earliest minis and have no idea who painted them! Oh, and I always like to have something to sip on nearby to calm the nerves while I paint, I find that it helps with the shaky hands . If you're a younger player, know that I am alluding to a nice, hot herbal tea. Serrinus
And again another update. The Assault Squad needs highlighting and some finishing touches... now photographed in a self made Photo booth. And a mugshot with Dreadie. I really need to keep a better eye on my marines. Noticed a black spot on one of them. I also made an inventory of everything I have... here it is below: * Captain * Captain * Reclusiarch * Librarian * Honor Guard Squad * Terminator Squad * Tactical Squad x2 * Assault Squad x1 * Death Company Squad x1 * Scout Squad * Death Company Dreadnought * Razorback * Bike Squad Next thing I am working on are the Scouts. The tacticals simply require repainting (some). I am leaving the Death Company and Honor Guard for last.... now to look into some long range firepower. So far my choices are: Stormrave, Devastators or a Vindicator to keep up with the troops. skyst
I love Vindicators in a BA army. I typically run a pair around 2,000 points, despite rarely getting an amazing performance out of them. I find that the threat of fast Vindicators to be quite important since I'll drop 2 Dreads deep on turn one and my opponent really has to pick between dealing with that or the 2 demo cannons poised to fire the following turn. Good fun :) Stormravens are obviously fantastic if you want to go that route, I personally abstain from the air game. I'm a grumpy, old vet hesitant to change. Devs are usually to slow/stationary for me unless you're playing on a table where they can succeed from deployment. When games last ~6 turns, moving a dev squad really limits their overall impact. Serrinus
And another update: Assault Squad Completed and Scouts work in progress. Dreadie is always there, omnipresent! Scouts More Scouts Single scout. I made the mistake of a full assembly before painting, but mistake has been noted. Because two swords are better (apologies for blurriness) + Green plasma :) And that's it. I will keep the thread updated :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286070-introduction-and-some-photos/#findComment-3584863 Share on other sites
