Shadespyre
The old Rogue Trader attack bike has the side car connected at just one point, and I'm finding they have often bent or broken at that joint, so I'm thinking they would be safer on bases to take the strain off the join. So does anyone currently base their attack bikes and if so on what? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286104-bases-for-attack-bikes/ Share on other sites
Xenith
Dreadnought base is probably the best and easiest! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286104-bases-for-attack-bikes/#findComment-3579207 Share on other sites
Paulochromis
but one of the ways to minimise the footprint of the double MMAB squad is to have them face each other, and that is not possible once you base them. Shadespyre
I really must BUY some bases so I can judge these things more easily, blu-tacked one together and it fits exactly on a 50mm square so I think 60mm round will be perfect, thanks. .... do people really do that? I'm glad I don't play in that sort of environment! JamesI
My attack bikes are on dreadnought bases. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286104-bases-for-attack-bikes/#findComment-3579256 Share on other sites
Seleucus
I've notced a number of manufacturers have started providing wider bike bases e.g. Dragonforge: http://dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/for%20sale/base_sets/sci-fi/ancient%20ruins.htm I have not tried them, or measured out attack bikes (current or RT), so don't know if they fit. JeffTibbetts
I put a standard circle base under the tire of my sidecar. It doesn't take the strain off the joint, but it makes me giggle every time I look at it. It's like a little bubble of baseness under the wheels. Hemal
Why not put them on a roughly traingular piece of plasticard or wood? There's an idea - an attack bike base - might try and mock one up tonight... Shadespyre
Hmmm, I quite like the wider bike bases from Dragonforge, they would tie in nicely with the normal bike bases. I wonder if I can find any in plain plastic / resin / mdf. A triangle, obviously with rounded corners for the WH40k aesthetic, would work pretty well too. As for the round base under the wheel, I'd considered that, only with the bike base across wise to support the rear wheel and sidecar wheel, and a single round base under the front wheel! Aspecti
I use 1.5 bike bases for my attack bikes to make an L shaped base :) Works fine and the base isn't too big for anyone to whine about. elmo
I use the standard 60mm base. It just fits. http://th07.deviantart.net/fs71/200H/i/2012/350/8/0/attack_bike__1st_squad__2nd_company__ravenwing_by_elmo9141-d5o7v4q.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286104-bases-for-attack-bikes/#findComment-3580149 Share on other sites
Shadespyre
Very nice! The old version is rather smaller I think so will fit even better. (Love your magnetised tanks tutorial btw!)
