Dark Angels Kill Teams

Does anyone have any advice about using Dark Angels with the Kill Team Rules?

I was considering some Scouts and Vets tooled up with different weapons. Maybe even a Razorback.

Then there is Ravenwing to think about. Any advice?

No HQs allowed unfortunately Pyro;

I'm looking at using our Assault Sqds with twin flamers as they are quite cheap now. And you can do a lot of damage by ganging up by using superior mobility, we use heaps of multi level terrain so bikes struggle here.

I have a couple of games booked for the 2nd, I'll let you know how they go...

My group played a few Kill Team games over the weekend, using the current e-book rules from the Black Library. Although I was using my tyranids another player had some success with 5 ravenwing bikers - two with meltaguns - and an attack bike with heavy bolter.

A tooled-up tactical squad also looks like a good choice. I would give them a rhino and missile launcher, making the missile guy a relentless specialist so he can move and fire. It's tempting to drop the squad down to 9 to free up some points for a veteran sergeant upgrade and power sword.

Other ideas we were throwing around are:

* Ravenwing Black Knights - they can drive wherever they like thanks to skilled rider, shoot with twin-linked plasma talons and assault with three S5 rending attacks.

* An assault squad with plasma pistols and/or flamers - very mobile, more numerous than the bikers and able to claim objectives above ground level.

* A company veteran squad with an outlandish selection of wargear - this kind of skirmish-level game seems like exactly the sort of operation that an ad-hoc veteran unit would be created for.

Just an FYI, bikes are not good choices for kill teams, at least that's been my experience so far.

consider a 5 man Tactical with heavy or Special Weapon, and a 5 man assault squad. that's 150 pts which leaves you 50 pts to play with upgrades.

try it... you'll like it  :)

Here's a couple I came up with:

200 pts

Tactical Squad
4 Marines Bolters, Heavy Bolter
Sergeant Storm Bolter
Razorback Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter

Scout Squad
4 Scouts Sniper Rifles
1 Sergeant Bolter

200 pts

Assault Squad (6 man)
Flamer, Powersword, Meltabombs

Scouts (5 man)
Sniper Rifles Heavy Bolter

200 pts

Tactical Squad (10 man)

Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher, Powersword, Meltabombs, Vet Sgt

200pts

200 pts

5 man Tac Squad Missile Launcher (Meltabombs or Storm Bolter)

Ravenwing Landspeeder Heavy Bolter

5 Man Scout Squad (Snipers, Bolters, Shotguns or CCWs!)

I haven't seen how the new rules were updated but I've always found that KT hasn't really favored DA since most of the good stuff is too expensive (DW) or too low in numbers (BKs) to be effective.

2x HB landspeeders and a scout/tactical squad should be legal and kinda fun.

I wish the new rules allowed purchases of single models.

Quite honestly if I were doing KT i'd do it with Sternguard/Vanguard with the Vanilla codex.

All I have ever run in KT has been a RAS:

Ravenwing Sergeant - FNP, Leader

Biker - Flamer

Biker - Flamer

Biker

Biker

Attack Bike - Multimelta - Skilled Rider

I think theres another special rule in there but thats the basis, comes to 199 points if memory serves.

The ability to run circles around everybody and pick your fights is great, and many times a hammer of wrath attack (or 4) has saved me from a tactical marine w a lascannon or something similar. Who needs to fight when you can drive them over?

I can see how in an extremely busy board you might be hindered but ive found most games I wont even lose one biker to a dangerous terrain test if I pick my routes carefully.

But as always your mileage may vary.

Oh and dont mean to brag but this list is something silly like 9-0 now...

Can on take 1 FA choice, so no multiple speeder combos...  One of the kill team mission I played,  was in an industrial sector with lots of buildings, factories etc. I was vs GK and most of our battles were on the rooftops. My Jump squad went up against his shunting  units, it I have to say,  was the most amazing game we have played. Bloop, I'm on the roof come and get me...

Assault Squads were meant for KT.

you could take 1 but I think they can't have the combined armor total value of over 33 (don't have the been in front of me atm) you could for sure take 1. hell maybe have a dreadnaught.
