2000 point game HQ of choice?

I was cleaning through some old stuff and I was looking at some of my 5th Ed list. Which promted me to think about how 6th has changed the game for me. So I wanted to purpose this for just because topics.

So in your 2000 point all comers list what HQ's did you use in 5th and what do you use in 6th. Or maybe it hasn't changed for you.

For me I was used Lysander alot in 5th Ed. I liked "bolter drill" and "boltser defense".

In 6th I run IF so I don't need Lysander. So now I run a CM with AA PF/LC combo and SE. I lose the STR 10 attack but I gain a bit more flex and OB.

So what about you????

Ooh, an easy one.

In 5th Edition my go-to power armoured HQs were Khârn The Betrayer and (for the briefly-played Loyalist army) a Jump-pack Chaplain.

In 6th Edition my go-to HQs are the Khorne Lord on Juggernaut with the Axe of Blind Fury, or the Khorne Lord in Terminator armour... with the Axe of Blind Fury. XD

Od.

I used St. Celestine and Jacobus in 5th.  I use St. Celestine and a low cost Canoness in 6th.

My Chaos army never has had anything resembeling a "standard all comers list" but in 5th I used to take Abaddon fairly often and in 6th my go to HQ more oftne than not a flying DP with the Mace and/or a jumppack sorc with the Brand.

My TAC HQ choice in 5th and right through until the 6th codex for UM was a lvl1 TDA Libby with storm shield and force axe. I still try to find the points for him, as it's a beautifully converted and painted model, my personal favorite in my army. Now I use Tigurius as my go to HQ, but I sometimes run a TDA Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with Psycannon as the warlord, and I've used a chapter master on bike with shield eternal and thunder hammer on occasion. I find Tiggy to be the most versatile, but the Inq and CM are both powerful in their own right, they just don't feel right as the warlord in a UM army.

I've used just about every HQ choice available to C:SM last edition, and I've done the same so far this edition. I pick a HQ to assist the theme/army I'm running currently (Tarnus Vale in a mech Ultra list at the moment for example)

The only one I've never used is Calgar...because I don't have a scratch-built wysiwyg model to use as him.

So now I run a CM with AA PF/LC combo and SE. I lose the STR 10 attack but I gain a bit more flex and OB.

Just a heads up, relics take a weapon to swap for, same for your PF and LC. Since the CM does not start with 3 weapons, you can't do that. You can, however, take PF+LC+SS, since the Storm Shield is an option to take one, not trade.

That little rule quibble out of the way, my favorite is:

Chapter Master, Thunder Hammer and Shield Eternal. Points permitting, I will take AA or TDA but, usually, he ends up fighting things with ap2 weapons, so there's no point paying for a 2+. Especially when running with his honor guard, who can tank the ap3 stuff just fine for him, while he provides them with a 3++ that I don't mind using against S8+.

Honestly the switch from 5th to 6th hasn't changed my lists much at all; I still use multiple Rune Priests, albeit I use them more for their Divination powers now than their Codex powers; I still wreck face with my 2+/3++ Thunderlord and his TWC cronies; I still bring the occasional Outflanking Wolf Priest for some tricksy backdoor shenanigans and I still pass on Ragnar/Logan/Bjorn most games due to absurd point costs. Bring on the 6th edition SW Codex.
