*fap fap fap fap*

Every Friday there are at least two threads made discussing new Forge World HH releases, then one gets locked. Surely it's easier to just reopen the huge Incoming Heresy Models thread? Not sure why it was locked, but there are new releases nearly every week, surely having just one thread devoted to dealing with that is more efficient.

I did have an incoming models thread which went over 109 pages and 100,000 views I believe, but in between the time we had to wait for models the thread got off the rails and we "Jeff'd" the thread. Plus Brother Tyler must've been having a bad week because he nuked a bunch of threads that week :PSo now we are only permitted one thread for each so we can clog up the space.
Actually, the reasoning was, "It was too ponderous". We were actually on topic when it got closed down, although there was a habitually series of venting steam which actually did no harm to the community, but alas, we are not mods, but the lowly peasants who abide by their judgement and must accept their reasoning on things. On topic: That Mk III looks better in color.

Eh, I'm still not clear as to why it was specifically closed. Too ponderous is just....meh

Also, I didn't elect you to be king!

I wish they'd back off on vanilla iconography for sets that are meant to represent slots across all Legions. It's just detail that I'll have to scrape off in the end.

That said, I love them both. Mk 2 being my favorite.

"The increased bulk of the suit made it less useful for jump infantry, but the improved protection was invaluable when fighting in tight confines where room to manoeuvre was limited."

I'm sorry, which iconography are you talking about that excludes Legions? The only iconography these models come with are the lightning bolts, which was a common theme early on in the Great Crusade and these armor Marks are from early on in the Great Crusade.

I'm not saying it excludes them. Its just a personal preference. I don't like laurels, scrolls, Aquillas, etc on my VIth.

Across all your Vlka, I can totally understand, but I'd keep some of it around here and there, to represent old Terrans, just for fluffy fluff. I doubt they'd carve away at honor markings from a Unification campaign. :)

My army is fluffed out to be mid Crusade and 3/4's or so Terran. I'm not going to go deeply into my murder dolly back story for sake of most people don't care, but there's a logic behind it. I hypothesize that their previous culture was overridden after the reunion with Russ. Fenris becomes irreparably joined to the Legion.

Perhaps we must simply agree to disagree, but don't one of you gentlemen poking at my opinion play Night Lords? Laurels? You think even a vet wouldn't have had some artificier/slave scratch that one off there by now and slapped on a screaming face?

I'm just saying that its a bit on the nose for vanilla when it comes to their special character casts for HH. Its ok if you think I'm wrong.

1.) I don't think you're wrong. An opinion is an opinion. The way you made the earlier comment just seemed like there was something that would exclude a Legion or two and I didn't understand how since it was all general iconography.

2.) Why would Night Lords get rid of lightning bolts?

3.) Forgeworld also added a nice little, political system to the Night Lords where something like a laurel could be used to distinguish one's position in that specific heirarchy. Obviously ceremonial of course.

4.) This is the most important one. If you're background army is written in a way that excludes Terran culture, that is okay. Nothing wrong with it. It is yours to do with as you please.

I'm not sure as to how I will include the laurels on my Dark Angels. I don't want to chuck a bunch of DA bits on them to make it look like I put some glue on them and rolled them in the biz box, but I want to keep to my knight/legion theme.

I think what ill end up doing is paint the laurels blue or red to mimic the plumes on knights helmets. I'm quite glad they included a bare head too.

One thing that I hope keeps making its way into more and more releases, is having multiple options for heads. I am not a fan of helmetless marines, and I appreciate the option to have a fancy helmet for my commanders. Plus, no matter which you choose, you have an extra to go into the bits box. And everyone knows that bits boxes can never, ever have too many bits.

I guess I may be alone in thinking the Mk II & Mk III command sets are a little underwhelming.  Since Command Squads in the Horus Heresy list are equivalent to Honour Guard (you can only take them at the Praetor level, Centurions can't have them), I would have expected them to have a little more bling.

The Mk IV set, released previously, had a number of unique features that make them stand out from normal Mk IV marines:

Crested helmets (including a longitudinal crested Mk IV helmet on the officer not available elsewhere)

Unique torso (at least on the officer)

Half cloaks

Heraldry shields

Officer has a bionic arm

In contrast, the Mk III set has

Laurels on 1 helmet, doesn't really stand out

Torsos with lightning bolts, but then the regular Mk III legion armor sets also have those

Only thing that really stands out as unique (IMO) is the pose of the officer drawing his sword

Standard is pretty boring

The Mk II set has

1 crested helmet (although the officer's "executioner" helmet also looks cool)

Unique torso for the standard bearer, the officer's torso looks like standard Mk II except for a laurel on the gorget

Eagle on top of the standard looks pretty cool

That's it?
