Blindhamster
legs on the mk3 have some extra little details too, they're nice, not too over the top, but probably not artificer armour options. Hyaenidae
Honestly, I'd expect less bling than their 40k counterparts. Often, it's not just the wearer who's showing off his accomplishments in the year 40,000; it's also the honours and legacy of every single wearer of that suit since the time of the Legions, and the accompishments of his squad, company, chapter, crusade, etc, for 10,000 years. 30K? Astartes have been chugging along for less than 1/10 of that time. Brother Tyler
Every Friday there are at least two threads made discussing new Forge World HH releases, then one gets locked. Surely it's easier to just reopen the huge Incoming Heresy Models thread? Not sure why it was locked, but there are new releases nearly every week, surely having just one thread devoted to dealing with that is more efficient.Actually, having a single topic for discussion of all incoming Horus Heresy models is extremely inefficient and ineffective. The topic becomes far too confusing; and because it bounces around subject matter so much, is prone to going off topic (which is exactly what happened and why it was closed). The issue with "at least two threads [being made to discuss] new Forge World HH releases, then [having the duplicates getting] locked" is more an issue of people not looking to see if there is already a topic, not with not having a single topic. As we saw previously, this happened before so it wouldn't change if we went back to a single topic (which we won't). Switching back to the actual discussion at hand, I'll probably get both of the Command sets, but each will have to be converted. Neither of the leader models has his hands/weapons positioned properly. The angle of the thunder hammer is off, as if the pose is right in the middle of the character adjusting his grip. The leader drawing the sword, meanwhile, has his left hand way too far down the scabbard and looks awkward. As far as the amount of bling, I have to agree with the sentiment that the Space Marines at the time of the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy probably had a lot less of it than their "modern" day counterparts. The Imperial Truth was about a secular Humanity based in science and reason, not the baroque superstition-laden Humanity of the Age of the Imperium. Part of the tragedy of the Horus Heresy is that the Emperor's great plan was brought to a fiery end and Humanity again descended into superstition (even the bespoke* Legiones Astartes). While some decoration is appropriate on 30K miniatures, I'm totally fine with most of this being via paint scheme rather than 3D relief on models. * To use a word that Games Workshop appears to be very fond of (mis-)using these days. GrandMagnus
Another thing you could consider about the "lack" of honours on the armour is (as mentioned in Battle for the Abyss and another book I dont recall the name of) the use of both ceremonial and combat power armour. You could say the ceremonial has a lot of bling but its inneficient for combat, it might be too shiny or whatever, and the combat suit has simpler decorations such as rank and company and is therefore easier for the artificiers to repair. Im perfectly fine with the lack of bling, it makes sense, the legions are an armed military force and should look like it. The chapters of the 41st millenium on the other hand are monastic warrior societies. DuskRaider
As a player of the XIVth I agree, no ornamentation on the armor please. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286259-command-and-medusa/page/3/#findComment-3583331 Share on other sites

But with the single thread it was clear to everyone using the forums that there is no need to start a new thread every Friday. Sure posts would start to get off-topic by Sunday at the latest, but that's because there is only so much one can say about Iron Warrior pauldrons, and by Friday it is back on-topic with the new releases. Imo, it was much more efficient, and clear to everyone that if you want to see new ForgeWorld releases, go to that thread every Friday. On-topic, they do look great. Slightly off-topic, I've been thinking of doing some modelling lately, cutting and gluing kind of thing, does anyone know the best place to get random bitz? I looked at GW page and it didn't fill me with hope. The alternative is paying a bunch of money for a whole model when I only need it's sword/head/book etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286259-command-and-medusa/page/3/#findComment-3583430 Share on other sites
Pyromancer
@Perrin It depends where you are, but I would suggest BitzBox, Blackdagger Games or Egghead Miniatures (Forge World mostly) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286259-command-and-medusa/page/3/#findComment-3583457 Share on other sites

Max Power
Here we go again. I just got my 3 Sicarans, 2 Contemptors, and the Gorgon in, now I have to order those command squads. Absolutely gorgeous models. Thank the Emperor my lady has just accepted the fact that I will be getting a package from Forge World every other week. She's a doll, really. ImpiousSmart
I work on the 'Rule of Thirds'. She asks me how much each order is and I simply divide by 3. She thinks FW are quite generous with free international shipping on orders of £75+. Excessus
Is that the first time we see the Thousand Sons colours? What legions are we still missing now in terms of having their colours shown on models at FW?
