Molokai
Ok so I'm currently reading flight of the eisenstein after having finished the first three novels of the Horus heresy series. Where to next? I want to read anything to do with Isstvan v. So yeah guys, where to next? Give us say the next 4 or 5 that come next because I'll buy them in bulk. Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286296-black-library-isstvan-v/ Share on other sites
Athrawes
Fulgrim, The First Heretic and Deliverance Lost are probably the best bets as they all pretty much cover all of Isstavan V. After that, if you want a great book, get the forgeworld Horus Heresy: Massacre. It deals in excruciating detail the battle of Isstvan V. GhostMalone
Well istvaan v isn't really covered after that, the LE novel scorched earth is on istvaan V and Deliverence lost continues after istvaan v for the raven guard but that's it really Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286296-black-library-isstvan-v/#findComment-3583119 Share on other sites
Molokai
Thanks guys. I'm ordering massacre in a couple of weeks. Can't wait. But yeah, just wanted to get some sort of order for black library's books. Conn Eremon
Reading them in publication order is perfectly okay. You can skip around, if you'd like. Kol Saresk
The First Heretic and Fulgrim are really the only novels that describe Istvaan V during the Dropsite Massacre. The short stories Face of Treachery an Raven's Flight deal with the hunt for the Raven Guard survivors on Istvaan V and the novel Vulkan Lives has flashbacks to Istvaan V, but that's really it. However, I would recommend reading the novels Know No Fear and Betrayer. Neither has to do with Istvaan V, but they are great books to follow with. Molokai
Ok, so I've got Fulgrim, the last heretic, deliverance lost, know no fear and betrayer. Look good? Athrawes
Just so you know, Deliverence Lost takes place directly following Fulgrim and First Heretic. Betrayer is a direct sequel to The first Heretic. Just so you don't read those ones out of order. Molokai
Thanks Athrawes. I ordered Fulgrim, first heretic, betrayer and know no fear. So I will read them in that order. daveNYC
Might as well stick Angel Exterminatus in there after Fulgrim. Depends on your interest in the Iron Warriors though. Nothing to do with Istvaan unfortunately. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286296-black-library-isstvan-v/#findComment-3583203 Share on other sites
Molokai
Yeah I'd enjoy iron warriors. Didn't worry about deliverance lost for the moment coz in not that interested in ravenguard. Cactus
Nobody here has read Vulkan Lives? It contains several good flashback sequences of the Dropsite Massacre. My recommendation is to read the whole series in order of publication. However the Black Library website could do a lot more to indicate what that sequence is. Vulkan Lives should be high on your list if your interest is the aftermath of Isstavan V. The short story Riven, is directly related form a Iron Hands perspective. I also agree that you should also read Angel Exterminatus before Know NO Fear. Also Deliverance Lost and Ravens Flight are a must. As are the First Heritect, Butchers Nails and Betrayer. Aegnor
Raven's Flight has quite a bit about Coral and the surviving Raven Guard trying to evade destruction on Istvaan V after the main battle.
