teblin
Hi all, This applies primarily to the Chaos marine squad, but I imagine it's much the same with normal bolter marines. I'm finding it difficult to correctly place the bolter arms and when I come to glue the bolter in place it's often at a strange angle, doesn't match the pose or just looks wrong. How can I improve my arm/bolter placement? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286312-marine-weapon-arms-problem/ Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Use some blue-tag or similar to hold them in place while you figure out their position. The glue them one at a time. Thats how I do it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286312-marine-weapon-arms-problem/#findComment-3583385 Share on other sites
Ammonius
Also, on the chaos sprue, you have to match the glove types on the arms holding the bolter to have a chance of a good alignment. infyrana
The chaos sprue bolter arms are nicely placed next to one another. The new SM boxes have numbered them due to their plethora of options (Sternguard box set for one!), but the instructions gives you the info there :) Yep, blu-tac helps a lot ! Once you have the basic idea, glue the right arm holding the boltgun into place, that's the one that needs to be set right so you can hold the bolter correctly, you don't need / shouldn't have glued the bolter in place at this point. When dry, I then place a little bit of blu-tac or a spot of glue just to lightly tack the boltgun into place on the hand as I find the best position for the left arm that holds the foregrip. Once sorted or an idea, I glue the left arm into place, add a touch of filler if the arm needs to stick out at the shoulder joint etc to fill the gap. Remove boltgun and glue into place properly (unless you want to leave off to paint), adjusting the left supporting arm accordingly as you wait for it to dry solid. It ain't so easy if you're like me and impatient and develop a distinct lack of dexterity whilst placing things right, top tip - leave the first arm to dry in place before doing the second ! Excessus
Also, with a little bit of GS in the armpits, you can change the poses a bit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286312-marine-weapon-arms-problem/#findComment-3584521 Share on other sites
battle captain corpus
I find if you just glue the "gripping" arm in place first, allow to dry, then glue the "supporting" arm in place with the boltgun rested in place then it usually works...
