GrandMagnus
Greetings brothers, I am working on my 2nd Company Ultramarines (you can see the blog in my signature) and next up I will be adding the command squad using the new sternguard veterans. So to my question, what colour should the tabards be? V1 V2 I want to paint their helmets white because they are the companies veterans, but keeping the pauldrons trim in gold. So which do you think combines the best, white or red tabard? I have seen both before and I like them equally, I just want to hear some other peoples thoughts. Thank you for your time brothers. For Macragge. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/ Share on other sites
Saul Invictus
I always prefer red tabards on my Ultramarines, I do 3rd company, and a nice crimsony red pops beautifully. Ramell
Definitely red. But then I also collect the Third, and may be slightly biased towards the colour. GrandMagnus
Seems like red is winning, Im kind of falling for it myself. Nightwing, I dont really want to mix them up Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3587164 Share on other sites
Ishagu
Although red does indeed look nice, I think white really suite the whole veteran/first company vibe. All my Sternguard have white cloths for example... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3587166 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
But they are not 1st company, they are the 2nd company command squad, which makes them the veterans of the 2nd company. GrandMagnus
I have decided to paint it red, to make them stand out from both veterans and the rest of the company. I can always change it if Im not happy about it. Anyways, thanks for your input brothers, it is much appreciated. Aqui
Had I been inclined to tabards, I'd paint them in the colours of the Company in question (in my case, green ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3587722 Share on other sites
deathspectersgt7
For how well you paint your Ultras paint them Gold. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3587748 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Gold tabards?... well... maybe I will add some gold trim or something :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3587894 Share on other sites
Arthanor
I'm late to the party but using your company colour would work well. Cloth of Gold tabards could be nice, although I would agree with the previous posters that, if you are mostly looking for an accent colour, red is the most striking. Maybe red with golden details? A trim and/or an embroidered ℧ ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3588252 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Thats what I was thinking, red tabard and gold/white details ambroided to it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3588276 Share on other sites
greggles
Red is also a lot more forgiving in terms of shading/highlighting then white is. Ask templar players . Grimm Blade
Have you thought about making each Brother's tabard unique? Perhaps giving each of them their own heraldry/colors? If that is not to your liking, I agree that red tabards seem to be the fluffiest/coolest looking option. GrandMagnus
Actually I was going to use their right pauldrons for their own unique heraldry. I might add some "gold" details on their tabards to make them all unique. UltraRich
Id paint them red but add a white stripe a couple of mm up from the bottom of the tabard. This will tie the white into the scheme. Red and white always look good together Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286461-need-some-opinions/#findComment-3592921 Share on other sites
