Lonewolf86
Hi all I'd appreciate any thoughts on this list I've put together: HQ Autek Mor-will go with the Castellax ELITES 2 Apothecaries -a.armour -augury scanners 4 Castellax battle-automata 3 Rapier batteries -laser destroyers Contemptor-mortis dreadnought -Kheres assault cannons TROOPS Breacher squad -10 additional -3 graviton guns -sergeant with a.armour and melta bombs Tactical squad -5 additional -sergeant with a.armour and melta bombs FAST ATTACK Attack bike -multi melta HEAVY SUPPORT Sicaran -lascannons Vindicator Vindicator L.O.W Typhon -HBs -armoured ceramite Comes to 2500 bang on I think. The plan is to use the troops as a solid base anchored with the typhon. Mor and the automata move forwards drawing fire and I have the vindicators and sicaran to outflank if needed. Any thoughts? ImpiousSmart
I'm not much of an expert, but only two troops choices seems thin. In my 3000 pt EC list I have 3 plus a terminator selection. Could you lose a vindicator for an additional troops choice? thor1234
I'd drop the attack bike and a Castallax and add in another troops choice, maybe dropping a few breachers to beef the squad up....... Moonstalker
MM attack bike is pretty fruitless. All the things that you want to suicide melta are most likely going to have armored ceramite. I would drop it and get lascannon sponsons on the Typhon instead of the heavy bolters. The Heavy Bolters really don't add much of anything to your army's firepower, where the lascannons could be doing some serious anti-vehicle damage. Not that you're lacking in anti-vehicle, but come on... they're heavy bolters. Not the most threatening guns out there The point difference between them and the lascannons is tiny, and the lascannons will be significantly more effective. I agree with both of the above in that you could use some more troops. Perhaps the following modified list might work: Autek Mor225Castellex-Class Battle-Automata Maniple-3 Castellax255Rapier Weapons Battery-2 Rapiers with Laser Destroyers110Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnought-Twin Kheres Assault Cannons180Apothecarion-3 Apothecaries, Augury Scanners150Legion Breacher Squad-15 Members, 3 Graviton Guns, Sergeant with Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs, Power Weapon335Legion Tactical Squad-14 Members, Sergeant with Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs205Legion Tactical Squad-14 Members, Sergeant with Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs205Sicaran Battle Tank-Lascannon Sponsons175Vindicator120Vindicator120Typhon Heavy Siege Tank-Lascannon Sponsons, Armored Ceramite410 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286465-iron-hands-2500pts/#findComment-3587156 Share on other sites
thor1234
as somewhat of an experienced player when it cmes to Breachers, I dont like the Graviton gun on them as its a heavy weapon, so the unit must stand still to use it, which kinds slows down already cumbersome unit...... i like Meltas or Flamers but ive found Volkite chargers really shines through, S5 2 shots each, hawywire whats not to like? Volkite Chargers don't have haywire, that's only the Volkite Carronade on the Glaive. I've always though that meltas are the best choice when it comes to Breacher special weapons, but he seemed to want Grav guns so I left it as-is. Lonewolf86
Thanks for the feedback. WRT to attack bike I just had some spare point so just thought why not. I didn't particularly like the choice. I do see the wisdom of getting some more troops. Do you think Mor will still be effective with 3 castellax? I suppose they are pretty survivable. The breachers got grav guns as it was a 'fluffy' choice-I did originally go with meltas which are slightly cheaper I think so I could save some points and maybe add to their effectiveness. I got put off melta initially as so many vehicles can be melta-proofed or near enough. coloroutofspace
yes, I'd also go with meltas. Volkites are nice, but on a Support or Heavy Support squad, where you have at least 5 of them. Points, but not moneywise, I'd only ever consider Javelin Speeders, and not regular Speeders or Attack Bikes for any Heresy-era force. Anyway, kitwulfen gives a very sound advice as to what the OP shoud field. I find Melta overpirced in 30K and if playing another 30K army, most vehicles you want to fire the Meltagun at ill likley have Armoured Ceramite, I have run 2 flamers and 2 meltaguns to good effect in the past..... keep em cheap and versatille I juust dont like Graviton guns on them cos of the heavy type, Breachers need to be mopving, shoved down your opponents face, and to do that they cant stand still to fire blobs of gravity...... though 2 X10 W/2 Graviton in each might work on the flanks..... A good fire team would be a 20 man Tactical squad doing the Fury of The Legion - that's why I myself never considered fielding Breachers. Get a Tactical, spare an Elites slot for an Apothecary. Give them additional Chainswords 'For a few dollars more'.
