@daemonclaw - thank you. I'm retired so free time is something I have a lot of :)

Work is coming alon and he is shaping up to be a beast. He is even bigger than my old Space Wolves and I thought they were giants LoL

Any C&C or pointers are always welcome and encouraged.

@Brother SGT Steine- Thanks for the kind words :) The white plastic is various rod and tube material from Evergreen and Plastruct companies. They are sold in modeling shops and model railroad shops.

Definitely a display of impressive skill. I like the wing on that axe especially- i think it's the little touch that gives it so much character. Just a little question- did you bent the plastic sheet before attaching each individual segment or are they each flat?

On the wing for the axe I glued two pieces of thin sheet together and cut them into a batwing shape. I then glued  .o4" rod  from the tips of the wing points to the base of the wing. When I had what I wanted I used an flat xacto blade to chop a flat line to connect to the axe head.

I don't really think of it as skills. I think I have just enough patience to carry across an idea. Thanks for the motivation though!

Yes I know he is a Wolf. I have a wonderful story for him (in my mind at least). Keep in mind that I have not played since 2nd edition so I am building and painting simply for the joy of creation LoL

His legs needed to be a little longer as the wolf pelt will add a significant amount of height and bulk to the torso. I still need to work on the bionics for the right leg and the arms, but this is a WiP thread.

Working on this guy too, but arms and hands really seem to be my bane. I will keep attempting to get it right. If nothing else I will have lots of rubble for my scout bases LoL

As always any C&C would be welcome. Thanks!

Wow, that Atramentar is scary intricate. I can't even begin to imagine the time you put into all his little bits. Looks awesome ^_^

The wolf looks like he's coming along nicely, bionic peg leg and all. The little gorget you've built up for him is pretty darn cool. I like how you can just see him peaking over, like he's defending a little castle wall ^_^

The third I'm really liking his unique helmet. Where is that from? I can't place it.

The only tiny bit of crit I can level, I'm not a huge fan of the little rivets. It's probably mostly personal taste, I'm just so used to seeing the 1mm microbeads for heresy bonding studs.

Firstly, I can see your point about the rivets. I am a scrapper. I try everything possible to use what I have on hand or can make from everyday items before I buy "premade" items. My minis (dolls as I and my GF call them LoL) suffer for that but I am happy with them as they are mine and I feel the studs I use give a heavier feel to the mini. Another issue is the premade studs work on premade size marines I would imagine. I doubt the 1mm microbeads would look the same on my termies. I didn't mean that to be harsh or rude BTW, I know that using seamstress pin heads is a shortcoming, but it's like you said a matter of taste and opinion.

The early stage termie helmet is just a shaved down berserker helmet. I needed something that would fit into the arch and looked similar to the cataphractii armor.

They have all been a real blast to make. Whether the parts line up, fall on the floor, or stick to my fingers. The project has been pure joy from the outset smile.png and I have two more to build.

Thanks for taking a look and thanks for the kind words.

When I read "scratch built Termies", two thoughts sprung to my mind: 1. this guy must be kidding and 2. I've to see this. So, now I'm sitting here with my jaw dropped. That's very impressive and disturbing. Are there any Imperials here? Because those abominations have to be dealt with immediately, before they are fully completed and ready to wreak havoc on Imperial soil.

But, seriously. I'm shocked. The amount of work, your determination, ideas and technique is... just amazing, as I can't find a better word. Amazing.

I am jealous of guys like you who can bend plasicard to their will like you, man. These guys look amazing.

You get an extra hive five for the fact that you live in Lincoln Park. I was born in Dearborn, and I still got family that live in Taylor and Canton.

Small world.

@ Brother Christopher - I am crazy but I never kid ,) Glad you liked the Termies though. Rest assured I will be stealing ideas from you when I attempt to "super-size" my dread.

@ Heathens - Thanks for the positive feedback. I retired to Lincoln Park about two years ago. I grew up in Detroit and served 21 years in the Army. Lincoln Park was as close to home as I really wanted to live :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a little more work done on the big guys. I need to thicken the forearms a bit but that should be simple enough with some GS.

Started thinking about what I want the next one to look like

Just wanted to post so the project doesn't die. I hate models half finished collecting dust on the shelf. If I post it's like homework smile.png

Thanks all. I need to leave the safety if the plasticard hybrids and try to learn to actually sculpt a marine. One of these days I will make it down to the art supply store and get a book on sculpting to find out where to even begin :)

I used the tutorial over at Dark Future Gaming to do the belly and added the intestines/tentacles on my own. Suitably Nurgle-ish I am hoping :)

Well not sculpting full marines yet by any stretch of the imagination :)

This project was to try new things and I am getting that done for sure. On the new guy I used tube to build his hips which I usually take from a termie. I also built his feet from putty as well as the "rear" armor on his legs.

Baby steps I guess.

As always any C&C would be welcome and hints, tips, or advice appreciated.
