FW Khârn

Recommended Posts

I'm just kind of "eh" on Forgeworld showing the Nails. Betrayer described him as having a face free of scars, except where the Nails were buried in his skull. To me, the idea of visualizing someone who comes from the World Eaters Legion, is counted amongst their most brutal warriors and yet not only lacks the visibility of the implants, but has no scars except where they were put him invokes a bit more savagery than actually showing them off. But that's just personal opinion of course.

Helmeted of course. The bare face version of the model doesn't fit how I imagine Khârn. He was unscarred isn't it? Besides I really liked the Karl Richardson art from Betrayer with his helm on, so it stays. The overall model is a must have.

By the way I've been off the forums for some time so sorry for asking this here but I can't find any topic respecting it, so speaking of the art, it is supposed that Richardson won't do the art for the HCs again? Has been confirmed or something?

Unfortunately this fig just didn't wow me at all, which is a real shame, his legs look like a lady stepping over a little fence whilst the world is falling on its side - he's angled far too much for my personal pref.

Having said that, it is slowly growing on me a little... not much though, I suspect I will eventually get it and make a few minor adjustments.

I prefer the helmeted version, but I dislike the helmet from the side view.  I dislike the head piece simply because of the size proportions.  It's like they had two blocks the same size and sculpted both face and helmet without making the head sized to fit inside the helmet.  The eyes on the helmet seem very low and squished.

On a positive note, it's nice to see both melee weapon options, as well as both heads.  The chopped arm of the fallen marine is a nice touch as is the rest of the base, but the pose of the fallen marine needs sorting out.

With regards to scar features / time period of this model - as I am no fluff bunny when it comes to Khârn, if for example this was Istvaan 3 or earlier (pre-scarred face), is it right that he would have bare arms?

I like both helmet and head.

That being said, this rendition of Khârn....is just lacking something. He looks like a conversion from here (not to rail anyone). I was just expecting a bit more. And the whole bare arms thing is just non sensical in my mind.

The thing I don't like about his helmet is that gigantic mouth grill. I was hoping for more of the Sarum type and less of the CHAOSSS.

But that's just me

I like him. His pose isn't the best, but I'm sure if he was positioned at a better angle, it wouldn't be as bad. More upright and pitched forward a bit, he'd be fine. Same with the dying Marine, if he were standing a bit more upright, he'd be better. I wish they had a better shot of Gorechild, can't see it too well in the photos. The unhelmeted head isn't great, but I love his helm. I'm not too put off by the lack of armor on his arms, he's Khârn after all. It's just too bad they didn't include a third head with a Commisar cap... can't have it all, I guess.

Not bad, but I feel a bit guilty that the main I've taken from the picture is that the Raven Guard has white shoulder pads. Is that their Heresy era scheme?

In the Index Astartes both the 30K and 40K Raven Guard have black shoulder pads with a white Chapter symbol. However, there is another picture of a 'Veteran Commander' in Mk VI armour with white shoulder pads and a black Chapter symbol, although it isn't specified which era he's from. It implies that veterans can have their own personally heraldry, including reversing the colours on their shoulder pads.
