DA allies for SM help pls

hi there i have about 750pts left for a dark angels allied detachement for my space marine army, i really want a black knight escort for my chapter master on a bike, i actually own 7 of them with 2 rwgl, i also have the dv starter set, libby on bike, belial, azzy, sammael, bikes, a dread w/ pc and hf and more... so what would you recommend for a 750pts detachment?

Hey mate, as a fellow space marine biker player who also likes a bit of Dark Angels I can recommend the following:

 

Dark Angels Librarian on a bike attached to a grav spam bike squad (Prescience helps the grav guns land on target)

 

Dark Angels Ravenwing command squad to accompany your chapter master (Upgrade with champion to take the challenges that the Master doesn't want)

 

the issue is that without Sammael you can't have ravenwing as troops so perhaps a small tactical squad to cap backfield (Not a fan of DA Scouts as they can't have a Landspeeder storm transport)

Well you need an HQ and at least one Troop unit before you get your hands on the RW BKs.

 

So maybe a Librarian to run with a small Scout or Tac squad. Use the rest of the points to max on the Knights.

 

Should come to around 545 with 10 RW BKs, with no upgrades.

 

In reality 10 Knights is a bit OTT - so could go with two smaller 7 Knight units. Comes to 713 with no upgrades. Better check your DA Codex for points ;)

 

Could always put the Libby on a bike to run with the second Knight squadron.

Deathwing Knights are awesome. I mean absolutely brutal. Now keep in mind they are only brutal for one round of combat. But man after that one round something should be slaughtered. I charged a five man squad into a 10 man termi squad with Chapter Master and decimated it down to three guys plus took all but one wound of the Chapter master. Easily six hundred points worth of Termi's vs my 235 point Deathwing Knights. You do want them to have a ride most of the time though. Or have something scarier as a distraction if you are going to deepstrike. But for the love of the Emperor get the charge. I love them and if you do take on something with poor armor then save the smite for something large...........unless you are not going to get to use it all game then smite mode and clear the lowly fools out so you can get on with life.

That's an awesome anecdote. Only, they whiff sometimes, too. like the time I smote a tervigon for one wound. one issue when you're smiting something where you actually need the S or AP is that your knight master's flail doesn't get the smite bonus. That issue disappears as your squad gets bigger, but with a five man squad, it's huge. OTOH, with S6 and WS5, knights are actually pretty good at killing power armor, AP be damned!
