Durfast Spiritwolf
Agreed Reinholt, I was able to enjoy Scorched Earth without feeling the need to diagnose the various mental disorders in play. That said, I do like the way the series is getting a more gritty feel, such as the familiarity with fighting in an armoured vehicle shown by John French in Tallarn: Executioner :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286638-possible-hint-at-answer-of-tarvitz-outcome/page/6/#findComment-3598683 Share on other sites
Kais Klip
This also makes the assumption that the genetically modified astartes mind processes these things the same way as the unaltered human mind. I am not sure this is a safe assumption. As much as the authors work to make the astartes human enough to understand, the genetic engineering used to construct them literally changes their minds and how they work. Can an astartes even get PTSD? If they can, will it be the same as a human? How is it cured? I know these things have not been fully explored, but my point is that assuming Loken's mind works like a human soldier may not be a safe assumption. I think it would be thematically apt to assume an Astarte's response to PTSD is similar to their response to fear; they still experience it before they proceed to violently terminate the source of that feeling with utmost enthusiasm, see Loken's hunt for anything living post bombardment. Theredknight
I haven't read it for a while, but when the virus bombs hit..doesn't rylanor look up at them streaking across the sky with another loyalist who's armour is compromised, and detonate his power source, causing a massive explosion and frying them both? Nope that was Huron Fal and another loyalist. Probably one of the most grim dark and moving moments in the series. Molokai
Yeah I remembered that part also. It was so bleak man. The way they willingly succumb to their fate when they realize it's too late anyway. A classic grimdark moment. No backing out. Theredknight
Ahh, it was a while ago.. Iv got a rylanor dread to stick together as well. Yes, I think the first 3 are the best as it's where it's all started.. Who doesn't like the parts where everyone is fighting for the imperium?! Essentially though, he gives him an. 'Explosion hug' from what I remember.
