Hemal
I was recently flicking through teh Dwarf range in my now defunct subscription freebie WD. And I though.. heck these look like something from teh past - I could add a backpack to that, or the front face of some Mk3 plate. So you kinda get the picture. Maybe proxy Veterans or Stormtroopers (or even as Space Marines?) But the new Dward kits allied with bolters or plastic special weapons equals a good proxy for what we have lost. Anyone else thinking along those lines? Nicodemus Doloroso
They who shan't be named were before my time, so I don't know what their stat line was, but it seems to me that they should have something other than a basic Imperial Guard stat-line. Yet on the other hand Space Marines seem too superman to be ++DELETED BY THE INQUISITION++. What about an inquisition warband to give them lots of special equipment? Kierdale
I too was thinking of adding a Sq-#ahem# refugee platoon to my army. I already have some of them counting as Ratling snipers. Remove the rotors and winglets from a gyrocopter, give it legs and you've got a nice sentinel. walter h
I would suggest waiting until the new codex, and see if there might be a way to use these models as abhumans,or possibly penal legion.Of course you could just do it, for fun, and use them with friends to see if they will accept them. In my opinion your army should reflect your vision, and in 40k,rule number one is ,is it cool?. If you think you can pull it off,and it looks cool why not. Of course if the Inquisition, ask ,Your on your own. Long live the Emperor!!! WarriorFish
That's a good idea walter, you wouldn't want to do lots of work to find some change in the codex invalidates something. Having them as a specialist unit would be best - an Inquisitional unit would be easiest as they're more esoteric in nature otherwise you might have to sci-fi them up a bit more. Hemal
++EXTERMINATUS IMMINENT++ were defiinitely on par with SM in the older game s- same T (S3) Same WS and BS on the elite units (e.g. Generic Troolslayer like combat unit, Generic Short Terminator type unit) Looking at the arms the arn't that much less muscular than a typical Ogryn... walter h
Inquisitorial, would be great, maybe Adeptus Biologis, they would have access to all Genome's. Adeptus Astartes,as well as all abhuman's. This is also a priestly order with nothing written about it,or at least very little. Your Inquisiter, would be unique,as well as youe army. Again ,in case the Inquisition, should show up I was never here. Willy Pete
Just so you know, on page 405 of the new rulebook, under abhumans, Squats are specifically mentioned, right after Ratlings. The Squats are back! ( Apparently the Tyranids didn't eat them all after all.) And, unlike the Beastmen, they are not explicitly forbidden from being part of the Imperial Tithe for IG. What this means for me is that my Chaos Renegade Scrunts can now officially be Chaos Renegade Squats. Hemal
ooh - anyone seen the new Ironbreakers? They REALLY look the part! Almost to the point of having a variant of power armour... WarriorFish
Yeah they look cool, I don't know that much about WHFB but an army of Gimlis is surely tough as nails. Nicodemus Doloroso
I used to play Dwarfs in WHFB as their fluff appealed to me, and they are pretty tough, although I sold the army fairly shortly after completing it because they are just slow as molasses and I like being very aggressive. I thus usually play Bretonnia in WHFB but I suspect my WHFB days may be numbered since I've heard rumours that the "less profitable" armies are to be axed which almost surely will include Bretonnia ... well, more money for my IG and Blood Angels! WarriorFish
Don't believe everything you hear on the Internet, the more shrill the voices the less likely what they're spouting is to be true. Can't seem to go a few clicks these days without some mouth frothing lunatic proclaiming the death of GW or that GW stole their babies. Nicodemus Doloroso
Very true, Warriorfish. After all, they've been saying that Sisters of Battle would get the same treatment as the people we're discussing in this thread as long as I've been in the hobby, which was about 1999/2000. Yet it's never happened. Speaking of Sisters of Battle, could that be another option for some ++DELETED BY THE INQUISITION++? I can't find Ironbreakers on the GW website, but I guess people are referring to the Hammerers / Longbeards box set? Definitely power-armour looking stuff there. Add in bolters and you're definitely on to something. Using SoB rules might be more in keeping with abhumans versus genetically modified supermen. Although the acts of faith maybe not so much so. I guess there is no easy fit. Kierdale
What about the Firedrakes (images are out there if you know where to look)? Now that looks like powered armour, and nice big guns. Then again, we're IG and the only guy with PA is the AdMec techie. Carapace armour and hotshot lasguns then perhaps. WarriorFish
Yeah that could work well, stunties are well trained so more elite options would better represent them :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286642-using-the-new-dwarf-range-as-deleted-by-the-inquisition/#findComment-3593195 Share on other sites
