TheMightyFireDrake
Hey guys, here is the first of what i hope will be a continued stream of my new cadians regiment (still unnamed). Lets start off with one of my favourite models in the range shall we, Enjoy, more coming soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/ Share on other sites
Nicodemus Doloroso
Excellent starting point -- I love that model, too. Unfortunately the only way you can bring it is with a platoon command squad so I've found mine gets limited use (especially since I switched to using the FW Krieg commissars who don't look like Hulks next to my DKOK). Impressive painting! I'm looking forward to more. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3590556 Share on other sites
TheMightyFireDrake
They are an upgrade to infantry squads too, I’m almostcertain. So you can stick them in combined squad of 50 if you wanted. That isnot my style however, and like you putting him in a command squad is a waste. However no regiment is complete without one or more. Nicodemus Doloroso
Not with a power fist, alas. The Commissar upgrade for infantry squads can only take a plasma pistol or power weapon Edited to add: I definitely agree with you when you say "no regiment is complete without one or more" and now that I play Krieg (list rather than just models) and can't bring one with my infantry squads anymore, I have started taking one with my platoon command squad just to get one on the table. Kierdale
Very nice work. Looking forward to seeing more. I too need to get some...morale officers...into my army. WarriorFish
A great job on a great model! He's one of my favourites too, just how you imagine a Commissar to be on the battlefield. Though having said that I've never actually used a Commissar before. I know, strange right but my Guard are faithful and brave enough so I've never felt I needed them. Aside from a "must be in my collection" thing, which is a different need :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3590808 Share on other sites
Captain Antonius
Although not very good on the tabletop, I put my commissars in with my pcs'. I also will play them as a much tougher element in the army. Typically, he'll only execute the officer/sergeant if he fails a morale check. I have him do it for any leadership morale or orders check. Maybe I'm shooting myself in the foot, but its lots of fun to have a result from an epic failure at a critical juncture. Nobody ever complains that they are tougher than the codex deems and they find it funny that my officer is now toast because he had a squad sergeant tell him no to frf-srf! LOL! I have a commissar model of every variation except the one gw female commissar. Someday, I'll find that one too. FragEmAll
I truly love that Model! I use him as a Lord Commisaar leading a 50 man infantry unit. Have a standard 'Junior' commisaar and a priest with him. That squad can take ANYTHING. Nicodemus Doloroso
FragEmAll -- wow, that does sound like a hard unit, but pricey. Guess it has enough bodies to last longer than most death stars though. That thing would be even nastier if you brought an Adepta Sororitas allied detachment and put one (or a couple) of THEIR priests in that blob. The Adepta Sororitas priests can grant re-rolls on to-wound rolls and failed armour saves with a successful leadership check (on Ld10 with your Lord Commissar!!). And they only cost 25 pts. A great job on a great model! He's one of my favourites too, just how you imagine a Commissar to be on the battlefield. Though having said that I've never actually used a Commissar before. I know, strange right but my Guard are faithful and brave enough so I've never felt I needed them. Aside from a "must be in my collection" thing, which is a different need Good on your troops, WarriorFish. I must confess that, contrary to the fluff I've created for my army, I find that my officers (junior and senior alike) have tended to be lacking in ... motivation. As such, although I have started including a commissar in the PCS for purely "rule of cool" reasons (plus a harkening back to the old DKoK list where a commissar was mandatory in every command squad), he may actually be needed. WarriorFish
Maybe I'm lucky but I'm pretty sure it's my models repaying me for all the care and attention I pay them :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3592436 Share on other sites
Nicodemus Doloroso
You know that's a good point. It's always bee the unpainted, resin grey officers who've been the ones running away! Their way of telling me to get some paint on them? TheMightyFireDrake
Wow its been a while. My resolve was found lacking by the commissar and i was punished accordingly. Luckily after the bolter shot the cog boys managed to salvage my skull and i now type aa a loyal servo skull. May the Omnissiah be with you brothers. A few updates on the guard. Alas not as much as there should be, but still a good amount to show off. But as you all should know, new book. That means resolve. Right let’s start with the newest editions to my force. Scions Ow and before you ask. I did get the new commissar too. There are another 5 on my desk ready to be finished, looking forward to seeing them done and next to their taurox . Kierdale
Very nice work! A quick question if I may? Are any of the hotshot lasgun arms actually posed as if aiming shots? I see a lot of relaxed poses and shooting-from-the-hip poses... I suppose they could be converted. Looking forward to seeing how your new commissar turns out. Please give him a red sash ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3662250 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Maybe Scions are so good they don't need to aim? :P They look great, the colour scheme works really well with the red touches (I'm partial to red berets too!). Resolve is what we Guardsmen do best so it's what I like to see. We'll be needing plenty of that come the ETL! :D I look forward to seeing more, though I'm off down GW for ETL supplies later this morning. I'll have to steel my resolve not to purchase any models after seeing these..! Please give him a red sash I have seen official GW pics of scions aiming down there hot shots. The backpacks and guns pair up otherwise they don’t fit due to the cord. However when you make special weapons guys they use up normal backpacks. I can only assume when i dived in and did the the plasmas in my squad first, he stole the aiming guys back pack so i could not make him. Which if that is the case then i managed to do it again for the second group of 5 i made up, haha. I plan to have 25 min of these guys so i WILL be adding aiming guys to scatter around my squads. WarriorFish
The ETL is a B&C wide painting challenge, check out our IG topic on it. It's going to start on the 1st of May and glory awaits all Guardsmen who finish their vows! Maybe some of your Scions can wait until then? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3664589 Share on other sites

TheMightyFireDrake
Thanks guys, Next five scions, The finished squad, with some lovely plasma goodness. Looking forward to using the order ‘directed firestorm sanctioned’, twin linked and a 4+ save should make them relatively suicide proof. Fingers crossed. Quick wip of the taurox, bit of an experiment if anything. I don’t know if i like it or not, i may continue doing stuff to it, but I’m fairly sure this will be a re-paint. Finally, a lovely wip of my commissar, who I’m talking my sweat time on. WarriorFish
I can't wait to see the completed army shot, they're going to look great! I like the Taurox scheme, I think you just need to pick out a few more of the details and it'll look much better :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286645-the-rise-of-a-regiment/#findComment-3670481 Share on other sites
