El Ancieno
The Jade Paladins are a chapter founded sometime during the 37th Millennium, after the Age of Apostasy. They were created from the gene-seed of the Executioners (which in turn was from Imperial Fists). They chose a feral world as their home world, and they built a huge fortress out of the green stone that is so prevalent there. They look basically like green Templars. I'm working up a proper IA for them, but when I came to Chapter Tactics I couldn't decide on whether to use Imperial Fists tactics or Executioners tactics (from FW). Their nemesis are the Death Guard (and Nurgle, of course) after their world's population was halved by pestilence and zombies. I'm leaning heavily towards Executioners tactics. Stubborn with ATSKNF and a cool challenge ability. Also, here is one of their veterans. The cross is not exactly a Maltese cross, but it is very similar. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202671739287330&id=1013732690&set=a.10202671734127201.1073741831.1013732690&source=43&ref=bookmark Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286647-jade-paladins-executioners-successor/ Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
Could is cool, but I have to say that Jade Paladins doesn't roll of the tongue very well. Of course, I'm the guy with an Emerald Tigers Chapter, so I can understand I guess. El Ancieno
I thought of several variations on Knight and Green. I like Jade Paladins best. Plus the idea of jaded paladins is amusing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286647-jade-paladins-executioners-successor/#findComment-3590430 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
Green Knights on its own sounds better, to me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286647-jade-paladins-executioners-successor/#findComment-3590451 Share on other sites
El Ancieno
I like the name Jade Paladins, and chose it after thinking of several variations. Green Knights came to mind, as did Emerald Fists, but I went with Jade Paladins. The other Executioners successor, Crimson Axes, was wiped out. Plus they are Templar models and Paladins are awesome. I based their color scheme on the Knights of St Lazarus, famous because some of their order were lepers. The Leper King in Kingdom of Heaven, Baldwin, was probably a Knight of St Lazarus. I will probably just call them Green Templars... El Ancieno
I'd like to put a complete IA here, but it might be easier to just paste what I've got. I'm gonna tweak it and consolidate ideas so that it's concise, but I'm keeping the name. Still deciding on a warcry. My favorites are taken lol. El Ancieno
Just learned that Iron Champions and possibly Skull Bearers are also descended from the Executioners. El Ancieno
The Jade Paladins' most famous battle involved their homeworld, Shinaros Prime. Sometime in the middle of the 38th Millennium, while most of the chapter was away battling Orks, a warband of Chaos Space Marines dedicated to Nurgle made planetfall on Shinaros. They would have had a hard fight against the three companies of Jade Paladins that quickly responded to the invasion if it were not for the zombie plague they had released before they landed. Geared specifically towards unmodified humans, the disease spread rapidly. Millions were infected and became flesh hungry zombies. Fortunately there were several native Shinarosians who were immune. When a distress beacon was activated, two nearby battle companies, who were finishing up the extermination of an Ork Hulk responded. They were able to relieve the defenders a few weeks later. The defenders had managed to destroy the Daemon Prince of Nurgle known as Nidorus, along with several of his plague marine followers. With the help of the two battle companies they cleansed their world of plaguebearers and zombies, but a small contingent of the plague marines escaped. Since then the Jade Paladins have gone out of their way to fight Plague Marines, and Chaos in general. That is not to say that they shirk their responsibility to exterminate xenos seriously, but they actively seek out battle with the followers of Nurgle. Nidorus has appeared a few times over the years. Jade Paladins have destroyed his material form 4 times now.
