Butters
I was wondering if the old metal sternguard have the different weapon options just like the new ones. I someone whos selling several boxes for $25 a piece and it would be a great way to save money as long as I can put the weapons on what I want. deathspectersgt7
No they don't the plastics have more options than the metal . Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286657-sternguard-old-and-new/#findComment-3590628 Share on other sites
Dragonkin Arenis
If I remember correctly, two of the marines with bolters were all one piece, a third bolter-armed model came with arms separate and one had combi-melta and combi-plasma options. The sergeant was all one piece, too, but the hand is accessible for a weapon swap. Xenith
you get a serge with bolter and powerfist, 3 guys with bolters, 1 guy with either a combi plas or combi melta. Weapons on all of them are available for swapping if you have the bits. It's still a good deal. 4 boxes gets you 8 combi weapons, and you can just say "these are all combi meltas" or whatever. Butters
Ok so I assume that since it is a GW official piece they wont penalize you in a tournament if your men dont have all the correct gear? Disruptor_fe404
Most tournaments still need WYSIWYG, so you'll probably need to swap the weapons out. Which won't be difficult unless you don't have the weapons at all. If you don't have the weapons at all, the current plastics come with two of each combi-weapon (the older set comes with, I think, one combi-plasma and one combi-melta, no combi-flamer and definitely no combi-grav). EDIT: Which is to say, if you get all the old ones, you can pick up one of the plastic sets and still have enough combi-weapons (probably). The_Chaplain
Ok so I assume that since it is a GW official piece they wont penalize you in a tournament if your men dont have all the correct gear? There is a reason WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) is a rule. Model the pieces of wargear or as close of an approximation as you can generally to avoid confusion in a game. Butters
I get the WYSIWYG for making the game less confusing. Anyone have combi plasmas for sale!? lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286657-sternguard-old-and-new/#findComment-3590666 Share on other sites
Disruptor_fe404
You could make some. EDIT: I have a version of my own, but mine requires two plasma pistols (you used to get five in the old Assault Squad boxes!). Hyaenidae
If you got a box of the old and one of the new, you should have a unique, ten man unit with everything you need. Just a thought, mind. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286657-sternguard-old-and-new/#findComment-3590690 Share on other sites
Butters
I actually intend to run a ten man with 10 combi plasma. And yes I've made a few but I dont have any more plasma stuff. Lord Commander Scrymgeour
is WYSIWYG still in the rulebook? I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286657-sternguard-old-and-new/#findComment-3593876 Share on other sites
Butters
I dont think it actually says it in the book its just kind of an implied rule. Every tournament I've been to they state it in the rules.
