Death guard recon squads?

Pretty simple

In ANY army there needs to be intelligence gathering prior to the first shot being fired..so with that being said. Could a recon squad work well in a traditional DG infantry army honestly I like the models and just want to paint them...but could they actually work

Well there are quite a few people who just paint the minis they like and then work out a way to make them relevant to their list. It's a matter of perspective really. You have your descision making driven from a tabletop effiicency perspective or from a modelling/background perspective? Both are fine and both could work... although I find the latter a bit more challenging myself...

I suggest that if you like the minis just get them, paint them and then try to fit them in your army somehow. Besides there are tons of scenarios that you can use to make them even more (or less) relevant...

My 2c

There's mention in either Galaxy in Flames or Flight of the Eisenstein of Death Guard with Sniper Rifles. Granted, that doesn't mean they were Recon, but I would like to think so. Recon Marines in 30K were also full fledged Astartes, not the Scouts of 40K. It was an infantry position, and Mortarion dictated that all Astartes have knowledge of all elements of infantry battle and tactics which would indicate they often took various roles from one battle to the next. In short: Recon Marines = yes.

Don't see why not, especially since a good few battles in the HH are portrayed like old fashioned line infantry conflicts then each legion would have "skirmishers" in some way, shape or form.

Just think Sharpe, only bigger, tougher, transhuman and up-gunned.
