Imperial Guard Valkyrie

Hi all,

I'm building an Imperial Guard Valkyrie model and am blogging my progress as I go over here on my blog:http://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/painting-imperial-guard-valkyrie.html.

Things are going well so far - this is how far I've got: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zNS6bEaRxCE/Uvnq8wDrNRI/AAAAAAAABSo/IMcUEirOT3c/s1600/20140206_194603.jpg

And I now have a question. I've also got the wings built and they seem to be fairly secure if just pushed into place on the fuselage. Having removable wings would make storage and carriage a lot simpler. Has anyone out there got any experience of whether this arrangement "wears" over time so the wings become loose? I can't see an easy way of installing magnets to make things more secure.

Any ideas, anyone?

I'm in the process of building my own one -slowly - at the moment and I have heard of people not gluing the wings in for ease of transport. I intend to do just that.

Secondly, nice work!

Why not start an army thread down in the IG forum here?

Yeah, the push-fit works. About the only thing that'd wear out quickly is the paint on the parts that hold them together.

Me, I've managed to fit some 1/8" magnets (6 per side) in, and that does help with the keeping it together part.

I put small magnets on the left and right side of the slot in the body and tab in the wing. I'll try to put up photos come weekend, but otherwise there should be other guides on the net.

Thanks guys

I magnetised the weapons last night and that's gone OK. I might give the wings a shot too, but being lazy I'll probably leave it as push-fit until such time as push-fit starts to fail.

I'd looked at fitting magnets into the slots and tabs, but the magnets I have are just slightly too large and since push-fit was working fine I wasn't too worried about having to order some smaller ones.

Hi all - I'm back with another brief update on the progress of my Valkyrie. I've magetised the weapons too, but they're not painted yet and so are not shown here.

Hi all - It's done! I finally finished work on the Valkyrie model I've been working on in small increments for the last few weeks.
