Kilofix
Not strictly a PCA question but related and I'm thinking it would be cathartic for me to get off my chest: I so want to buy and paint the FW Voss Lightning Strike Fighter. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Navy/VOSS_PATTERN_LIGHTNING_STRIKE_FIGHTER.html But: I can't afford it (I'm already trying to save for an actual Chaos LoW and for the next IG release). I already have a huge backlog of other things that I actually need to build and paint. I don't have space for it. It is ugly. It is not very detailed (compared to other non-GW / non-FW aircraft models). It is useless game-wise and I'd never actually field it (unless maybe Apoc....). Yet, I keep looking it up on the FW site, thinking about how I would airbrush and detail it, how I would convert its loadout and how I would build a diorama around it with my IG. I'm pretty sure it is some kind of FW subliminal trick working on my mind. Maybe I'll be able to get it one day. Or maybe I should get a paper craft version. Tell me this isn't out of the ordinary. Do you have something you're obsessing over PCA-wise but isn't really practical to pursue? Bryan Blaire
Sure, numerous things, and every time I find myself slipping, I go and look in my "To be painted" cabinet to strangle those feelings off in infancy once again. If you only want it for how it looks and you have many other things to paint, I find that this reinforces the "Nah, really don't need it, maybe later" concept. Shadespyre
I made a list of miniatures projects last year, and stopped when I passed 20. And many of those are "paint an army" scale projects! Now I'm trying to only buy minis that further my current 3 projects, but it is hard, so hard... Durus
Yes. I've made way too many plans and painted not nearly enough models. I figure if I keep moving at this pace I'll be busy for at least the next 10 years without the need for new purchases. I'm starting to think I have to make a list of things I want to do and things I know I'll probably never get around to. I guess hoarding is sooner or later kind of inevitable in this hobby. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286720-impractical-pca-obsessions/#findComment-3592037 Share on other sites
Disruptor_fe404
I have a list of about 25 (and growing) conversions that I want to do. And probably never will. Okay, that's not fair, I've actually done some of them and removed them from the list, but I know I won't get to the end of the list. Ever. Warsmith Aznable
I have lots of projects going at once, and go back and forth between them. Sometimes I get inspired to do something and it only gets as far as buying the parts and putting them on the shelf. Sometimes I have a squad that will be assembled and primed and that's as far as it gets because I'm on to something else. Sometimes I go to the store for one thing, then come back with something entirely different. I have three four armies, one of which has four or five separate detachment projects I'm working on. Don't even get me started on my several planned terrain projects. And yet I still strongly desire certain models I can't yet afford, like the Lord of Skulls (something I can't see myself actually fielding, and is kind of ugly), and get totally hype about the rumoured Imperial Knights. Stercus
I cannot abide the stupid loops of cable on the ankle of power armoured marines. If I could have the time back that I've spent scraping them off, I'd, well scrape them off again I guess. Stupid wires. What kind of idiot would design a mobile fighting suit with its own inbuilt trip-hazard. MasterBuilder
Coming from Australia to the UK, I sold off everything except my boxed unopened kits, which I still managed to fill 4 shoeboxes with! Thwyre currently winging their way over to my new place here, but I'm not short of inspiration. Just got back to my old place and done some digging in the loft, and found some old part built marines. Perfect for that Siege Assault Squad I'm building. I personally spend hours and hours checking out components and others conversion ideas here and online. Whwn I've collected guard armies in the past I've likewise spent hours looking for conversion bits to get the feel of my army right. I couldnt resist the Land Raider Achilles and the Caestus Assault ram recently. Both damn ugly models, but rarely used together in the same force. My Siege Vanguard will make some people cry for sure!
