Is Aximand dead?

Lord Tarkin

Recommended Posts

Last time I saw him, he was in Tales of Heresy...

Spoilers for those that maybe haven't read it.

Ends up getting his face removed, or something, in a fight with the White Scars. He survives, however.

I'm still entertaining the theory in my head that it was actually Aximand that lowered the shields on the Vengeful Spirit at that climatic moment in the siege of Terra as a rather emotional Heel-Face Turn, and ends up paying the ultimate price for it, thus becoming something of an unsung hero whose sacrifice is never actually noticed.

It was a White Scar with a medusan blade I believe.

I rather think he was too far in with Abbadon to betray the Sons, but I don't think he'd have followed the first captain into the black legion. Aximands devotion was to Horus, not Abbadon.

Maybe he founded the Wolves of Horus (is that the name? From the BL supplement)

Inevitably, he will be dead by the time the Black Legion becomes a thing. Black Legion supplement has Abaddon killing the last Sons of Horus captains until he is the last one left. Whether or not Aximand is still alive at that time, who knows. There is always the possibility that he ascends, exempting him from Abaddon's killing spree.

I think that that would be one of two proper deaths for him. The other being him fighting Loken and then realizing what he did, letting Loken kill him.

Edit:

Of course no one gets a proper end in the Horus Heresy

... I should have expected GW to do that. I guess my Wolves of Horus, with pretty much the same background just became legitimate...

Hmm, so nothing really absolutely clear as I can see. Guess we'll never really frickin know

Well last we saw him he was alive and that was en route to Terra so it's safe to say that he is alive at this point in the Heresy

Edit:

The story is also really powerful, I can't remember the name of the short story but it was in Tales of Heresy and it's really powerful and shows the effect that the fight between with Tarik, Ezekiel and Garviel had on him.

As it has been specifically denied that Garro is a grey knight, I was wondering if Loken was their first grand master, Janus.

Sorry to hijack the thread there :)

I am hoping for a noble end for Aximand, but I somehow doubt it unfortunately :)

I don't think it's been ruled out that Garro is a Grey Knight. Instead BL sources have mentioned that it's not a lay-down misere that the Knights Errant = the first Grey Knights, and that there could still be a lot of water to go under the bridge between where we are up to with Garro and crew now (at the end of Grey Angel) and the founding of the Grey Knights.
