Njal and Runepriest Clarification

Hey folks,

I'll open by apologizing if this has been asked (ad nasuea) before. I did a fair bit of googling, and searching through this forum, and didn't find a direct answer to the question (not to say I didn't just miss the answer)

In regards to the "Leaders of the Pack" rule - we have;

No number of Rune Priests may share the exact same two
psychic powers. For example, a Rune Priest may choose to take
Living Lightning and Thunderclap. A second Rune Priest may
then choose to take Living Lighting and Jaws of the World
Wolf, as he will not have the same two psychic powers as the
first Rune Priest. Note that the restriction on weapons and
wargear still applies, so you have to have each Rune Priest with
a unique wargear selection. Also note that Njal Stormcaller
knows all seven powers rather than just two, so no other Rune
Priest can end up having the same powers. Thus it is permitted
to take Njal Stormcaller alongside other Rune Priests. If you
choose instead to take psychic powers from the disciplines in
the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, this restriction does not
apply, as the specific powers are selected randomly.

___________

This being said, we know that Rune Priests cannot share the same wargear, or the same combo of psychic powers.

However, Njal knows all the of Wolf Psychic Powers. If I include another Runepriest, alongside Njal, can I give him codex powers (LL, Jaws, etc)?

We have the line;
"Also note that Njal Stormcaller knows all seven powers rather than just two, so no other Rune Priest can end up having the same powers"

Does this mean;

"No other Rune Priest can end up having the same powers [because Njal knows all seven, and thus, picking two does not make their power selections the same, allowing you to have Njal and a Runepriest with Wolf Powers]"

or

"No other Rune Priest can end up having the same powers [because Njal knows all seven, no other Rune Priest can pick any Space Wolves powers]

Any clarification of Njal's full knowledge of powers and my ability to take another Runepriest with codex powers would be amazing.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a small language issue (English is not my best), sorry.

I knew that I could take him and other Rune Priests - taking them isn't the issue. It's taking them, and kitting them out with Codex Psychic Powers - as any combination of Wolf powers would match Njal, making them illegal.

I'm probably just reading it to literally.

Thanks for yoru help - I shall go on to Living Lighting my opponents to pieces in Apoc games!

""No other Rune Priest can end up having the same powers [because Njal knows all seven, and thus, picking two does not make their power selections the same, allowing you to have Njal and a Runepriest with Wolf Powers]"

This is the correct version; if you're a new player, you might not realize that FAQ came from back in 5e (5th Edition), when there was no such thing as Rulebook powers, codex powers was all that there was, with no options.

To try and aid further:

No two Rune Priests may have the same pair of Space Wolf Psychic Powers.

Njal knows them all, thus, no other Rune Priest can match him in total powers known; this is the two limit above for the other Rune Priests.

No two Rune Priests may share the same wargear loadouts (TDA, RA, Chooser, etc.) as well as the above Power limitation.

Your first assessment is the true and correct one.

As to why, it's considered fluffy in the SW Codex for our HQ's to be Heroes, and as such, be as unique as possible when designed.  No two HQ's should, should mind, be the same as far as wargear goes.  The same is likely expected of SW Codex Psy Powers.

Hope this helps.
