Mindstrikes - Why our Ravens rock!

So, after much gnashing of teeth about Daemons and Grimoires, the 'new' bugbear is the Seer Council.  Apparently.

It seems that after Fliers, the next (or current) 'Big Bad' of 40k (No, not going to even think of D weapons...) are Psykers.

Time to load up the Mindstrikes?

Ravens have been our best anti-air option since the introduction of Fliers, and are now quite possibly the best Anti-psyker tool the game has to offer.

So how do we best make use of them?

PC/Comms relay to bring them on?

Full of Henchmen, or a more durable unit to drop?

Locator Beacons, or quietly forget the Death from the Skies exists?

What else do we have, or have access too, that synergises well with our Mindstrike Ravens?

Even with Coteaz and Henchmen troops, can we afford to take three Ravens?

I love SRavens, after we first got our codex, I used the darn things so much.

Every time our Eldar player put a Runes of Warding Farseer on the table, he knew exactly what was happening; I wasn't rolling a single Psychic test until that Farseer's brain was turned to mush.

Locator Beacons, or quietly forget the Death from the Skies exists?

Death From the Skies doesn't exist. About 5% of the player base are even aware those rules exist, and fewer care.

Ravens are good, but I wouldn't take more than 2 normally. 2 is probably the sweet spot, 1 is too risky, but 2 means you'll get a volley of Mindstrike off and probably melt half the Warlocks.

I've been mostly playing eldar (dark and craftworld) for ages and usually roll 2 storm ravens ,ac/mm/psybolt ammo both with dreads ac/hf/psybolt and flame ammos

the first carts my librarian and purifiers over the table while the second has 6 termies bare bones unit most of the time maybe an incinerator or a sprinkling of weapons.

But then i use purgation squads with 4 psilencerswhistling.gif

I thought....I thought people like you were just a myth. A story we'd tell the newbies around the fire. 'And then, the Knight player took a Purgation squad with quad psilencers, and not a single Daemon army was fought that day'.
Jks, Purgation squads are bad regardless of what you give them :P take Purifiers instead.

hehe 12 str 5 shots and 24 str 4 just shreds units add in the astral aim and not many of my opponents enjoy coming within 24censored.gif inches of them, oh and they have that anti daemon rule too so avatars, princes etc tend to avoid them even more which is handy.

not enough elite slots lol and i really don't like spam armies so crowe's out the window (seriously i use draigo and only take 1 unit of 7 paladins)

for me army choice is 40% rule of cool 40% effectiveness and 40% cunning planblush.png yes that's 120% but there's some overlapwhistlingW.gif

back on topic

psychic communion and a comm relay = nasty, you can pretty much choose when you get reserves so it can seem a little cheesy if over used but compared to some of the things out there

as for units working well with them consider the humble servo skull placed well it's awesomefakenopic.gif

or as mentioned purifiers and a librarian are fun unless they crash (this is bad trust me) but any thing goes throw a cheap brotherhood champion and techmarine inside it with some strikes ph34r.png then lay a claim to an objective on their side of the table (this tends to distract all but the most focussed playersdevil.gif ) or stuff it with scoring termies

about the only unit i haven't tried slinging in a storm raven is my interceptors
