Nadir
Yes you can. It's one of the most important things you can do with them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286809-branwolvesic/#findComment-3593745 Share on other sites
skeletoro
Given that bran redmaw specifically has 'saga of the hunter', I personally wouldn't read the 'fenrisian wolves' part as a limitation on who he can outflank with. I'd allow him to outflank with other units too. But I am interested to see how others would read it? Roma
Well he isnot in the codex, so his wargear has to be explained, and it is explained as wolves only. DanPesci
The way the rules are written for him it seems to be his own specific version of saga of the hunter (the paragraph starts 'brans saga of the hunter allows...') It goes on to say it gives outflank to "bran (and any fenrisian wolves he is leading)." However (this is the key bit), the rules were written in 5th - when outflank didn't confer from an IC to the squad they are with. In 6th, if ANY IC with outflank joins a squad, they also get outflank...so you can add bran to whoever you want, and they can outflank. It used to be in 5th that you could only really add wolf priests/outflank characters to wolf scouts who also had outflank, but brans rules ALSO let you outflank with fenrisian wolves. However, in 6th, this doesnt really matter anymore. NOte - thats alll of the top of my head..at work so cant double check apart form the random pdf i found (which is the pre-faq one where they add MC to the redmaw) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286809-branwolvesic/#findComment-3594233 Share on other sites
Roma
...so you can add bran to whoever you want, and they can outflank. Unless you can back that up with some kind of FAQ, it's just wishful thinking that's completely against the rules as written. skeletoro
Umm, page 40 of the brb: 'any unit that contains at least one model...' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286809-branwolvesic/#findComment-3594904 Share on other sites
Roma
So you think the text saying he can join wolves is only there to clarify what you can already do? I think not. https://www.facebook.com/ForgeWorldUK/posts/348531861830767?comment_id=5365154&offset=0&total_comments=2 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286809-branwolvesic/#findComment-3596271 Share on other sites
DanPesci
no, like i said in my post above, i think the text that says he can join wolves and outflank was there to overrule the outflank rules from 5th edition (when the text was originally written), in which every model in the squad had to have the outflank rule. That comment you've linked is from December 2011. The 6th edition rulebook came out in summer 2012. As skeletobro says, look at page 40 of the BRB. Its the same reason wolf priests with saga of the hunter became much more useful in 6th (ie because you can now outflank them with pretty much anything you want) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286809-branwolvesic/#findComment-3596293 Share on other sites
