Update on my guard

Okay. I'm building and base coating left and right. Vendetta, manticore, Russ #2 and chimera are coming along, just picked up command squad #2 and put in a bid for two basilisks that are painted to my scheme.

My command squads are going bearer, vox, commissar, medic. Special weapons are heavy flamer in one unit, melta in the other.

I've base coated everything with Rustoleum camouflage, shaded with camo shade and brushed over that with Catachan green. Lead belcher in the appropriate places. Now... To layer or not to layer... I've never been good with the highlight layer. I do plan on getting a very fine tip paint marker for all the panel lines.

Need to get at least one more vendetta and maybe 2-3 chimeras. Thinking of sentinels, but I hear nothing but bad about them. But who doesn't like the 40k at-st???

Waiting on the new releases for elites and troops.... And the tasty imperial knight just for something hopefully cool to paint.

Pics hopefully if I get time this weekend, but overall... How does it sound so far?

Sounds pretty good.

About the sentinels: haven't heard much bad about them here. Run them in squadrons of 3, as they're pack animals, not lone wolves. Used effectively, they can put the hurt on just about any list you come across.

We all look forward to seeing your Guardsmen!

Agreed with Argun, Sentinels are only rubbish if the player doesn't know what he's doing with them ;) I'm also keen to see your models :D

As someone with poor eyesight I find highlighting edges difficult and time consuming, so I generally cheat or avoid it. My Marines get dry brushed and my Guardsmen nothing at all! There's usually enough difference thanks to washes being a core part of the scheme anyway :)

My ultras look fine without it IMHO. My MOTF is the only one I've had success with, but you all saw in the pic in the previous topic how well they showed "on film".

I would definitely run 3... And as much as being open top gives them the same protection as an empty beer can, having a scout move is VERY inviting.
