dothac83
I'm torn between 2 different Dreadnought layout for my wolves army: First is the Rifleman Dreadnought: Twin-Linked Autocannons on each side = 125 points Second is the Plasma Cannon, Heavy Flamer combo = 125 Points Each one is worth the same points and I've built models for both. Which would earn their points back better? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286827-dreadnought-help/ Share on other sites
Kasper_Hawser
I think the second one needs a drop pod which is additional points so that can land right smack in front of enemy lines and unleash hell. I don't think it'll last a round of shooting though, or actually kill 125 points worth of models. First one will have to stay at the back in cover to shoot and hopefully glance a small av to death. Not too fun in my opinion. Either one will have to work in synergy with the rest of the army. Max_Dammit
As a shooting platform Id use the Rifleman, the plasma flamer is dead the second it gets to use the flamer and will be stuck in CC If you want a tar-pit fire magnet unit go for the plasma. The choice is in the rest of your army. and what it needs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286827-dreadnought-help/#findComment-3594006 Share on other sites
pedrogzc
The riflemendread is a good shooting platform. And can tarpit non fist or meltabombs units in HtH i they reach your lines (but don't leave him unassisted). The plasma is very situational and if you want plasma cannons, you'll find long fangs more suited to use them. Also I have used a melta-gun droppod dread, but it's a 150 points one shot. Good for distract fire from your hunters, but in the end it's a little waste of points.
