exetus
It's one of those things that could go both ways. So often we are trying to find ways to make things pop and stand out, so not doing so is unique in its own way and no way a reflection on the obvious skill of the artist. Hey, not everyone is the perfect shade to contrast with their plate and the colors, thematically, are perfect. By that same token, the artistic take would say to find another way to add in that contrast and separate the head from the armor a bit more. I find myself supporting both trains of thought and thus being indecisive. That said, I may or may not have a mess in the front of my pants to clean up now. winterdyne
Having thought about it, other than perhaps some OSL on the headset (already done on the other side, but I didn't spot anything that looked potentially glowy on this side) I don't think there's a lot to be done. Need to keep the mayan skin tone. Need to keep the tattoo dark blue. Need to keep the armour that colour. Tricksy.
Brother Talon
They seem to be a bit... clean. Maybe a bit of Nuln Oil or some form of wash to achieve a bit of separation and distinction between armor and flesh? Just my own personal thing... never could paint and not make it gritty and weathered. Always seemed off to me.
winterdyne
The sergeant's back on the desk for some tweaks to see if I can get the head to pop a bit more (whilst it's 'correct' at the moment, it's a bit indistinct). Here's some individual shots of the rest of the squad:http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_s3_1.jpghttp://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_s3_2.jpghttp://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_s3_3.jpghttp://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_s3_4.jpg

LutherMax
Sarge looks better, they all look superb. What colours do you use for the glowy eyes?
winterdyne
Vallejo Model Color Blue Green, add a bit of white for the first highlights, then a bit more for a second highlight to the centre of the eye.

exetus
I think that was a great solution to add contrast while changing absolutely nothing about the theme. Bravo!
winterdyne
And another squad. The marines are basically the same as you've already seen, the Sergeant is a bit more interesting.http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_squad4.jpghttp://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/5suns/5suns_s4_sgt.jpg
Lysimachus
Beautiful! I forget, are the 5 Suns particularly focused on jump pack units or will we see Tac/Dev/Bike/Termi squads?

winterdyne
Primarily jump packs. The only non-airborne unit are the terminators, and I presume they're mostly lugged around by Storm Ravens.
