Surgeries took me down for a bit but I am recovered enough to hold a brush I hope :)

I picked up the HH Typhus because I love the sculpt but I plan to play Night Lords so modifications were in order.

He is a long way from paint. I still need to add some skulls and heads to him. Just wanted to get him posted to keep myself motivated and on task.

As always any pointers or ideas or any general C&C is always welcome.

Hey Dude, only found your thread today but I love the theme you're going for and your GS and sculpting work is fantastic.

Wish I had some C+C for you matey but it all looks great to me so far, looking forward to seeing how your wolves come out especially as the 6th are my legion wink.png

Keep up the good work brother thumbsup.gif

I've been missing you mate lol wondered when we would be seeing you again. Glad to see you back :) and good to hear your feeling up to painting.

It is a great model and think you've only enhanced it my only critic is picking the right head, I think it will make or break the model :) great work on the old school lighting claw ;) are you going to use the base given or make your own?

@Squeaky - thanks for the kind words Brother

I am planning to use the bare head that came with my NL raptors from Forge World. Calm but deadly :)

The base will be the same as all my termies (cut stone and moss). The army is built as a "stuntie" hunting expedition with the troops having cavern/industrial bases and the elites looking like they are in the "inner sanctum" if that makes any sense.

I figured the easiest way to go about the ETLIII is to just go down the list :)

So I am starting with the Termies

I tend to use imperial models and then convert up as the chaos models just have too many bits to remove. These guys are still going to have lots of GS added along with new shoulders (I hope) to give them move of a heresy era feel. I just like to have a WiP shot from the very beginning rather than once the build is complete.

As always any input would be welcome at any stage of the project.

By force of habit I have a compulsion to complete a force commander or vet SGT before any other mini. It kind of sets the tone for the rest of the units I guess.

He started out bearing the plague host but now I think he is far more presentable as a true son of Nostramo. Now I can start building his retinue around him :)

Day 1 of my ETLIII and the snags are here already smile.png

Vowed five raptors not thinking that one was already done. So I found an old metal raptor and started building a pack for him so my vow is still legitimate
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/ETLIII%202014/A535D43E-6B21-4E43-9B86-48F66A9A0887_zpscof430sz.jpg

Started painting the commander based on the pic of the termie in the Massacre book
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/ETLIII%202014/9D2A78B5-9B45-48E6-BC18-0130B96FA460_zpswsiefoph.jpg

Which raised the question I am hoping people here can answer.

The terminator in massacre seems to have white shoulder and leg plates (or am I seeing the colors wrong?). Is the white color a company marking or is is a veteran thing that will be later carried into all the "chapters" in the Big Book of Marine Rules?

EDIT - I think the plates are metal (dark steel maybe) rather than white. Damn you Forge World artists. I'll get it fixed, I just had to argue with a 13 year old over the color first. Should have known the white was wrong, he was looking way too much like a World Eater for my liking.

Ok changed the plates to metal and they fit much better.

Thoughts? Should I just go with straight NL blue all across the mini? The rest of the squad will be "pieced" together from different eras of armor and this is the one complete set of 30k era armor in the bunch.

As always any pointers and C&C is welcome. Painting, converting, or anything I may have missed.

Wow is it just different lighting or have you washed the blue it looks a shade darker either way I think the metal is more suiting of the imposing character :)

@Deathspecter - thanks :)

@Squeaky - I started adding some light highlights to the battle damage maybe that changed the overall look a little. Funny how that works some times.

@squeaky - thanks, I was surprised by the freehand myself :) now I just have clean it up a little

I got the arms on and painting going and couldn't help myself and added gore LoL. I am liking it so no worries there. Maybe I will dedicate the squad to the blood god after all and go for a more brutal and feral feel to the group.

I got the squad built and the plastic work done today. I should be able to start to GS work tomorrow it hope.

In time they may be replaced with actual FW miniatures but with a month+ wait times being normal I seldom order anything from them and the local shop has limited selection so I have to make due with fabricating what I hope passes for worn out armor. It will look better when paint is thrown on I am praying LoL

As always and pointers, tips, things I missed, or general help is appreciated.

Doesn't look like much but I am making progress.

The building part the squad is almost done. One more termie to build and then some touch ups and I should be ready for paint. I am trying to give them a feel of cast off from a bastard legion. True veterans of the long war. Scavengers on the fringe of the Imperium. Hence I am attempting to show different armor types thrown together to keep them going.

The wolf guard in my army will have the same look and should help to pull the units together in a common theme despite the different legion colors.

That's the idea at least.

Finished the Termies and almost finished the raptors and realized I would only be wasting my time trying to speed paint the bikers and I would not even get to the second squad of marines. I am in the hobby to enjoy myself so I didn't want to make a job out of this. Always next year I suppose.

I have apologized to all involved and have started on my "shame" project. I will be doing 2000 points of Ultramarines over the next year and will be looking for advice on both army content as well as painting tips. I do not play the game so I want to be able to give away a decent force when the year is up.

I figured I would get the HQ out of the way and see how the blue looks so I started working on a Libby.

Again any C&C is welcome. From painting advice to what the army should include. I need help from all approaches. Thanks in advance.

Wow, you really have HH terminator accessory sculpting down to a science. Those are fantastic shoulder pads!

The only micro-constructive crit I could add is that the skin tone you've gone with seems a little ruddy for a Nightlord, pale and pasty Astartes that we are. Other than that, painting looks like it's coming along nicely.

If you don't mind, what type and size of plasticard do you typically go with? or is it different based on which ever project or weapon you're working on at the time?

Started my Vet Sgt for the knock around army I'm doing until my orders arrive.

Size comparison to a CPT conversion for my "shame" vow I'm working on.

I will be working on a preheresy Blood Angels force while I do the Ultra Marines. I know I will need a break from all that blue. I figured what better company to do than the 5th :)
