Must.....resist....urge....to....make Imperial Fist contingent.....failing.....miserably!

I always thought Sigismund wore black and white armour- not a tabard??

He painted it black after he was made into the Emperor's Champion. He did however wear his personal heraldry prior to this. He is described in several short stories as wearing golden armor with a tabard/cape with his heraldry.

Oooh me love you long time.

@DC12: Oooh, you owe me for new keyboard, big time.

I really like that artwork. I wonder if it will show up in Book 3.

Lol what happened? Spewed coffee on keyboard syndrome? It's contagious you know...

@crusader weber

Get behind me satan, don't tempt me to start another knight army in the heresy....must...purge...wallet

Prior to being the Emperor's Champion and founding his own Chapter, he was an Imperial Fist. He is described by Black Library exactly as you see above, but also with one pauldron in gold with the Legion symbol and the other pauldron in white, trimmed in black, with the heraldic cross.

I never really pictured Siggy as being one to insist fake leaves be sculpted onto his helm.

That seems more like a Maccrage or Ultramarine thing than something a Fist would want.

Also, I always pictured him in Mark III armor, but that's a personal taste issue.

If by cumbersome, you mean "The one with the heaviest frontal armor, perfect for boarding operations, shield walls, counterassaulting a breach during a siege, and all the other operations you'd pick the best hand to hand fighter in the VII for" then I agree.

;)

Well, both official Emperor's Champion models had the laurels. Pedro Kantor has them as well.

But then in the picture above he is not yet the Emperor's Champion.

Of course, in the original fluff, a normal Battlebrother was named the Emperor's Champion and then given the ornate armour, where in the HH fluff he already has the fancy armour and then just has to paint it black.

In Mechanicum he is referred to as already wearing Black and White Heraldry. It was mentioned at the Horus Heresy Weekender that he is accompanied by a squad of "Sword Knights" This may represent one of those or it could just be Sigismund in his Imperial Fist colors. I love it either way!!!

Heraldry isn't the same as armor colors. Otherwise the Lamenters armor would be entirely black and white checker patterns.

Personally, I think it looks exactly like how all the Imperial Fists 1st Co should look. Dorn reprinted his armor black after the Emperor was put on the throne, so if the IF 1st company had white insets with a black cross on their pauldrons before the heresy, then repainted their armor with the Primarch, it suddenly makes perfect sense why the BT color scheme is the way it is.

Still begs the question as to why he was refered to as "The Black Knight"

Because it was his heraldry. If you call someone in a Legion full of yellow-armored Marines "the Yellow Knight" the title doesn't stand out much. But when you take their black heraldry, which is in and of itself a symbol of an old knighthood, you get The Black Knight of the Yellow Imperial Fists, even though there is really little black.

At least, that's my thinking.

Come back you coward!

I'll bite your bloody knees off!!!
