Night Runner
Hi everyone, I just stumbled upon a new great wolf from Scibor called the Celtic Giant Wolf! You can find it HERE. It seems OK to me, but maybe a little large for our existing Thunder Wolf units. It might work as a character mount or for a single showcase piece or vignette. Or maybe as a proxy for Canis ( for those who don't like the model). What is sure is that it is a bit pricey! What do you think? Nadir
Well, it's not so new... And i don't like this skaven - like head, and horse tail. But pose is nice. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
the head bothers me, but it's better than Canis and his wonder squirrel. Vash113
Do I see anatomically correct anatomy on that thing? I also agree the head looks a little wonky. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
It's ugly as sin. Really ugly sin, the kind that makes you flinch when you see it... But it is indeed another option for TWC, I suppose. infyrana
I actually really like the GW TWC models, think they did a smashing job on getting them done. On the flip side prior to their release, there were a host of alternative finds where people sought out available options from other sources. A lot of them are very much a personal preference, Scibor included, I would say that whatever you choose to go for, you do all out and get everyone one of them from the same source for consistency - they don't look good to mix and match. As for the Scibor miniature in particular, take a look at a real wolf when it loses its fur, they are very very skinny. This beast of a model looks more like a humungous bear by comparison! But I am sure you could make it fit into your army if you wanted it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287041-new-great-wolf-from-scibor/#findComment-3600054 Share on other sites
Vykryl
Ragingheroes sells a 3 pack of mechanical wolves that I like the look of. I'm on my phone & haven't figured out how to post pics from it or would include the one Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287041-new-great-wolf-from-scibor/#findComment-3600228 Share on other sites

Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
you know what, I like those a lot more than I like any GW release T-wolf at this point. Rift Blade
I actually have the pack ldr. . They are tiny bit bigger then GW T-wolves but they grow on you. And yes, mixing different suppliers wolves in the same pack looks a little odd. Just keep them in their own packs. skeletoro
A tad off topic, but Night Runner, did you try swapping GW and basicks wolf heads? You mentioned the basicks wolf came with all 3 heads in your review of them, so it would be sweet if they could bit put to use personalizing GW ones. I have not done this so far, but I do not see why it cannot be done. In fact it is a good idea! The only problem I see is the style of the fur. GW is more cad/ stylised while the Basicks one is more realistic. A bit of work might need to be done. skeletoro
Yeah, there is that. The main problem with the GW TWC (which I love) is that when you buy multiple kits you're pretty much stuck with the same 3 wolves, with minor variation through bionics.I guess you could swap the heads within the TWC box set too, but when I considered doing this (I'm making 9 atm) I decided against it because they were a poor fit. With some green stuff though, might not be too bad. Growler67
GW's Super Squirrel, Scibor's Skaven crossbreed and the Ragingheroes ones look like the rats from NIHM. Can't ANYONE sculps some proper TW models? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287041-new-great-wolf-from-scibor/#findComment-3603769 Share on other sites
