NO Contemptors?

A friend told me that I can no longer use my two contemptorsin my SW army?  Something about only C:SM can use them according to the 2nd Imperial Armour book about SM vehicles?  Is this true?  Can someone shed some light on this for me as I don't have this book.

My contemptors were never a very strategic choice, but I have fun with them.  This is another GW bummer for me if it is true!

Not sure if this will help but....

Imperial Armour: Apocalypse and Imperial Armour 2, Second Edition are

both current books. If you wish to field Chapter-specific Contemptor

Dreadnoughts, please use the rules in Imperial Armour: Apocalypse to do

so, as nothing in Imperial Armour 2, Second Edition contradicts or

overides this option.

Actually, the friend is half right.

2013 IA: Apoc says (paraphrased):

Space Marine Contemptor Pattern Dread is only for C:SM, C:DA and SM Siege Assault Vanguard

However:

Space Wolves Contemptor Pattern Dread is available for C:SW. It has slightly different wargear from the standard version.

Hi,

you can find it on the net (APO 2nd edition)....

SW contemptor: page 26

ws5/bs4/s7 / 13/12/11 / i4/a4

+

 automantic shielding

+

3 night sagas (totally different front the one of the SW codex): black cult, forsaken one, iron god...

so if you don't have the rules, no way !!!!

I've also always been interested in running a Contemptor with my Wolves since I lve dreadnoughts just that the standard ones are hard to make it work with in this edition. So I guess I have to look to the apocalypse book then to get a Contemptor sw pattern. But in one of the links a fw employee mentions we can take the normal contemptor just not the mortis ones. Now I do not have the books so not sure exactly how they work.

My biggest questin is does the sw pattern get skyfire? Doesn't say on the pdf that's available(if this is even the right version).

Wolves get the shaft when it comes to Contemptor Dreadnoughts. We don't get the Mortis version, the Night Sagas are honestly some of the most useless and uninspired rules I've ever seen from FW, we don't get cool stuff like the Graviton Gun, Plasma Blaster or Heavy Conversion Beamer, we even miss out on the ability to take two gun-arms. Do yourself a favour and avoid the chapter-specific version.

Would seem that way which sucks.

Yep, I had one with the graviton gun and another with a swap of several including the plasma balster!  A pity really, they should have left these models available to all chapters like the rest of the vehicles imo.
