CC striking order

Okay guys and gals, I've been playing GK for awhile now and have always set my units up with the same weapons to avoid the mixed initiative rule. Now I've read and re-read the rules and I guess I just don't get it. So, here is stupid question time. If you have 4 guys with, let's say halberds and one with a daemon hammer, you take a test to activate all weapons at once but then another for the hammer because it is a different ini? Or is it just to activate it for instant death, which a hammer would rarely need. I'm usually not confused by rules but for some reason I can't wrap my brain around this one. Also, is it 2 different tests, one for the weapons and one for hammerhand. Help please.

You only need to roll once for the whole squad to activate force weapons, since they benefit from the "Brotherhood of Psykers" rule. You would also need to roll again to activate hammerhand if you so wish. Most squads only have one psychic mastery level so you usually need to determine which one to use, either hammerhand for single wound models or force weapons for multiwound. The rules in 6th state that you only need to activate force weapons when you inflict an unsaved wound, and since you activate it for everyone in the squad then the hammer would also benefit when he wounds at his initiative step. Hammerhand on the other...hand must be activated before hits are rolled (I think during the assault phase?) and so you should have made your decision which one to use before charging. Hammerhand also benefits the unit, not just the squad, so any independent characters would benefit too, additionally if the independent character has hammerhand then the unit befits too, and they stack msn-wink.gif

edit: The banner just negates the need to roll for force weapons, but all other rules and effects still apply.

No, hammerhand does not stack in any way with itself, only Might of Titan. But once the unit has caused it's first unsaved would, you test for ID.

your mileage may vary.   Locally, we use the nova open FAQ which states "Different Maledictions or Blessings of the same name do stack."
